I wanted to highlight some of the events we have been doing over the past two years or so in conjunction with Channel 5’s Head of Development, Beren Money.
Taking in two great locations, The Hospital Club in Covent Garden and On The 7th at MediaCityUK in Salford, we have been able to reach out to our members and get them in the same room, over a drink, with some of the industry’s movers and shakers.
To date, we’ve had a brilliant, diverse selection of speakers – from producers, directors, writers and talent to technical geniuses who are changing the whole landscape of the medium.
We’ve seen the original taster tape for An Idiot Abroad, discovered how the look of The Apprentice was created, learned about the mind-boggling logistics of ITV’s live talent show Superstar, and lifted the lid on the workings of Zeebox… to name but a few. Throughout, it’s been a fascinating, revelatory and often very funny insight into some of Britain’s most innovative and distinctive television.
And so it continues with our event next week – another great line up of speakers, such as the triple BAFTA-wining director, Dan Reed discussing his work including two of his ground-breaking films – Terror at the Mall (HBO/BBC2) and the The Paedophile Hunter (C4). If that wasn’t enough, we have Dan Gold, Exec Producer and Simon Raikes, Channel 5’s Commissioning Editor, talking about the critically acclaimed series, Britain’s Bloodiest Dynasty, revealing their secrets for producing great drama documentary.
Look out for more great line ups in the coming months. And please let us know if you’re not getting the invites – we’ll quickly make sure you’re on the next mail out.
Here’s to seeing you soon!
