About
GMTV is the UK's leading breakfast-time commercial broadcaster, attracting an average monthly audience of 18.4 million viewers. GMTV broadcasts seven days a week, 365 days a year, from 6.00am - 9.25am. Weekdays GMTV provides a bright, topical, live news magazine, setting the agenda for the day's discussion points in a compelling and popular way.
The programme's website, gm.tv, has nearly 1 million users, containing extended content from the show plus many lifestyle services such as Dating, Travel and Shopping Comparison.
GMTV is also a leading children's broadcaster, providing a mix of cartoons and links with its daily "Action Stations" brand and "Toonattik" at weekends plus two children's websites.
With its inimitable relaxed friendly style and instantly recognisable presenters, the programme has a wide range of content. News and current affairs are interspersed with popular news strands and showbiz guest interviews.
GMTV's workforce is highly diverse. We require a wide range of skills and experience across many departments in order to effectively deliver our programmes. Around 340 employees work either directly on producing, creating and outputting our content or within roles that directly support the programme and our wider business.
GMTV is a 24 hour operation with some (but not all) of our employees working early mornings and overnight. Our work ethos and culture is based on high energy, commitment and real passion for what we do. It is an exciting and creative environment and there is a desire to give people the opportunity and responsibility to develop and implement new ideas.
This is a people business and success is achieved through effective influence and relationships. A keen interest and passion for media is a key element of our cultural fit. Cultural sensitivity and empathy are also requirements; therefore good communication skills and a creative, consultative and influential style are important.
The pace is fast and therefore prolonged debate, meetings and committees are rare. Individuals must be good decision makers, highly accountable, possess balanced judgement and demonstrate the ability to take calculated risks. GMTV is deliberately not hierarchical or highly structured and the management style is informal.
The environment is friendly yet professional and demanding. It is fun, welcoming and inclusive - people are important.
