You'll be joining a growing video team at an exciting time of expansion and development, with an ambition to create best-in-class video content for both social and owned-and-operated platforms.

Job Purpose:
You will be one of four video journalists sourcing, creating and publishing video content for Standard.co.uk and associated platforms - with the aim of increasing video views, extending brand reach and building critical reputation.

About you
•2-3 years' experience in a news or video production environment
•Strong news sense with a creative approach to storytelling
•Creative, fast and efficient with a no-fuss attitude
•An active interest in online/multi-platform video content
•Willingness to work a 5/7 shift pattern, including at weekends or occasionally unsociable hours
•Willingness to travel when required

Key responsibilities
•Spotting and sourcing news video clips with potential to drive traffic in news verticals
•Generating & pitching ideas for explainers and original video content, taking into account desk requirements and video analytics data
•Producing, shooting, and editing high-quality video content for Standard.co.uk and associated social platforms, across a range of verticals including both lifestyle features and news
•Fast-turnaround editing of news clips, third party footage in response to the daily news agenda
•Creation of original graphics- and archive-led explainers around news and lifestyle subjects
•Crewing and leading multi-camera studio shoots for pre-records and livestreams
•Publishing and embedding video content to Standard.co.uk using our in-house CMS
•Monitoring and responding to video & website analytics to ensure optimised placement of content

Skills and experience
•Self-shooting video to a professional standard using DSLRs
•Strong understanding of composition, lighting, audio, shooting for the edit and visual narrative.
•Ability to self-direct shoots when required, and also to work as part of a larger crew on occasion
•Editing to a high standard with speed and efficiency using Premier Pro and Adobe Creative Suite.
•Some knowledge of After Effects and Audition desirable.
•Production skills including research, setting up shoots and managing associated administration (release forms, call sheets, etc.)
•People skills and communication: able to liaise sensitively and appropriately with contributors from a wide variety of backgrounds, ranging from sensitive contributors to high-profile individuals.
•Experience working in a fast-paced newsroom with proven ability to deliver to pressing deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
•Familiarity with news wires and clipping services, and ability to respond to news requests quickly and efficiently.
•Full knowledge of media law, in particular copyright in relation to third-party content
•Familiarity with the latest trends in online video, including but not limited to social and multiplatform publishing.
•Experience with content management systems, video publishing platforms and video analytics.
•Writing clear, concise copy at short notice, and ability to write longer articles around video content.
•Understanding of best practices in content production for multi-platform distribution.
•Experience with paid and commercial video content
