Supervising Engineer

Leaversden

The role of this job position is to provide supervision of the engineering department and technical and operational oversight to the mix techs. Additional responsibilities include: 1.) The development and application of workflows and procedures for mix projects to achieve a high level of client satisfaction and 2.) the development of a training program to be used in the training of the facility's mix tech and studio assistants with the aim of increasing overall skill levels and emphasis on mix work flows, system knowledge and project management.

Accountabilities

Ensure the highest possible technical standards and correct workflows are followed
Schedule the engineering department rota and monitor working hours to ensure the engineering department operates effectively and within budget
Ensure all studio staff (mix techs and studio assistants) are well trained in the procedures, workflows and equipment required to effectively support all mix projects
Monitor all rolling maintenance schedules of studios & other areas are applied
Provide status update to management on the performance objectives of the engineering and studio staff
Ensure all technical resources are managed and allocated correctly
Liaise with equipment suppliers and service companies regarding equipment repairs and maintenance. Address any technical repairs or servicing issues promptly
Plan, oversee and undertake installation projects as required in conjunction with the Operations Manager
Provide satisfactory resolution to client technical issues or concerns in conjunction with Operations Manager and Bookings.
Keep up to date with technological developments and make recommendations to the Operations Manager for areas of continual development and investment.
Ad hoc duties as required

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following:

Proven experience managing the duties and responsibilities throughout an engineering team
Proven experience as a mix technician working on large feature productions with particular focus on relevant workflow and equipment knowledge.
Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to create an immediate rapport with clients and staff
The ability to provide training and guidance across a number of departments and technical disciplines while still performing operational duties.
Ability to understand staff and client needs and priorities through collaboration in a diplomatic manner
Proven experience to diagnose technical faults quickly and efficiently, providing well-reasoned solutions
Adapt to changing technologies and techniques readily
Advanced knowledge of the following: Mac OS, Windows, MS Office, Avid Pro Tools and control surfaces, AMS/Neve DFC, Dolby formats including Atmos.
Relevant tertiary audio qualification
To be sensitive to the differing needs of clients and staff
Able to communicate effectively with Management for the betterment of the team and resources, with an eye to providing a high standard of customer service
Team player and leader
Problem-solver
Capacity to remain calm and effective in difficult situations
Flexible and adaptable in approach to ensure clients needs are met
