Junior Content Designer

County Durham

We're looking for an enthusiastic self-starter with strong graphic design skills to join the business as a Junior Graphic Designer. Working within the fast-paced marketing team, you'll have a positive attitude, be a real team player and be committed to keeping up to date with industry news and trends. You'll need to be a well-rounded designer with a creative eye and excellent attention to detail.

About you:
With a background in content/layout design, you'll be an enthusiastic self-starter with strong graphic design skills. Working within the fast-paced marketing team, you'll have a positive attitude, be a real team player and be committed to keeping up to date with industry news and trends. You'll need to be a well-rounded designer with a creative eye and excellent attention to detail.

Your role:
As the Junior Content Designer, you will be work alongside, and be guided by, the Creative and Publications Coordinator to deliver all the company's global publications and literature, including, but not limited to, our quarterly craft magazines, trade and retail catalogues, and information booklets. You will need to prioritise workload to meet the business needs daily, ensuring that all work is completed to a high standard and on a timely basis.

You will need to:
- Lay out the Crafter's Inspiration and Sew Inspired magazines to the highest standard whilst maintaining the magazine's house style.
- Assist other areas of the business, when agreeing promotional activity for the magazines, including the production of advertisements, catalogues, flyers and stationery.
- Create both trade and consumer catalogues, adhering to brand guidelines.
- Produce marketing design including advertisements, catalogues, and flyers.
- Maintain an effective project process to ensure time taken to complete tasks are filtered through and agreed with the Creative and Publications Coordinator.
- Attend issue reviews and art de-briefs when requested.
- Understand the profile of the audience that's being designed for by attending research briefings and appropriate shows for market sector of new magazines.
- Maintain the core brand values in media, packaging and marketing design.

General Duties:
- Create other business design content as required.
- Creation of content in association with the Crafter's Companion team to support Affiliate activities.
- Follow brand guidelines set out by Crafter's Companion or our licensors at all stages of the creative process.

Other duties
- Copywriting or proof reading, as required.
- Any other promotional or brand-based activities as and when they arise.
- Adhere and respect all company policies and procedures, including health and safety.

Essential skills:
- Minimum 1-year experience of content design
- Excellent working knowledge of the full Adobe Suite, in particular, InDesign
- Strong layout skills including impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to build strong relationships and communicate at all levels
- Superb organisational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
