ITV Cymru Wales plays a vital role in people's lives providing high quality, trustworthy national news coverage about Wales on digital platforms and television.
ITV News is one of the biggest and fastest growing digital news brands, and we attract millions of people to our website, app and social media channels each month.
If you are passionate about digital content and publishing and you know what it takes for stories to cut through to a digital audience in Wales, then we have a great new opportunity for an experienced and creative digital journalist to work as part of our team of Content Editors.

The role

Our Digital Content Editor oversees and champions our national news website for Wales using their specialist skills and understanding of digital audiences to shape and influence the creation of bold, distinctive digital content at all levels in our newsroom.

With your specialism in digital journalism and experience of working on news websites, you will plan and commission content for our website and digital channels, commissioning content from our journalists, reporters and presenters, as well as creating it.

Together with leading our website you will use your creativity and knowledge of audiences to inspire and develop new ideas for new content that will reach people across Wales and beyond in new ways and on new platforms.

You'll have a brilliant understanding of audience development, spotting trends and producing audience highlights and guidance to build understanding and expertise within the wider team for how best to serve and grow audiences to our website. With your significant depth of experience in online journalism, full knowledge of analytics and media law - plus your excellent editorial judgement - you will be confident in supervising the work of others making informed decisions to tight deadlines.

Our Content Editors are senior members of the newsroom with a core specialism, but they're also flexible and able to take on other roles when required. So, if you thrive in a fast-paced environment and you possess the journalistic and people management skills that will help us achieve our goals, then we'd love to hear from you.

Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)

You will have run, or worked on regional or national daily news websites.
Proven experience of working effectively in a team to produce impactful, high-quality & distinctive News content to daily deadlines and under pressure.
The ability to lead people and take teams with you.

Other things we're looking for (key criteria)

An understanding of the importance of Diversity & Inclusion in commissioning.
The ability to demonstrate resilience & determination with a willingness and track record for successfully learning new skills.
The ability to ensure digital stories are accurate and brilliantly presented, writing sharp, digital-friendly headlines and making use of the best pictures, video and other multimedia assets to drive engagement.
Proven track record of dealing with breaking news and developing stories.
A solid understanding of digital publishing including best use of SEO, social media and the ability to understand and act on Google Analytics data.
A confident decision maker with strong knowledge of media law & compliance and the ability to exercise excellent editorial judgement.
A passion for and good knowledge about Wales and its distinct features
