We are seeking a deputy political editor to join our team at Westminster.The Sunday Times is world-renowned for its informed and insightful politics coverage. The deputy political editor works as part of our team in the Lobby generating political exclusives that lead the news agenda, as well as covering the Westminster diary. They are also required to step up when the political editor is unavailable.Please apply with a covering letter and your CV by December 14.Day to day you will:Bring in exclusive stories that inform and engage our readers on all platformsHave excellent contacts across all political partiesHave the ability to write with authority and command the respect of our readers and those within the political arenaRepresent The Sunday Times on radio, television and other media, especially our own internal stationsAttend politics conferenceDeputise for the political editor on a regular basisCommission and contribute to digital packages that increase engagement and support subscriber growthHave a strong knowledge of social media and an ability to use it to increase our readershipSuccessfully manage a productive relationship with the editor of The Sunday Times and department headsWhat we're looking for from you: Strong contacts in politics and a proven ability to bring in exclusive storiesExperience in digital and a commitment to growing our digital audienceAbility to work autonomously and to strict deadlinesExcellent presentation skills and able to communicate succinctly and effectivelyExperience and commitment to working collaborativelyStrong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues
