About

Afro-Mic Productions is an award-winning independent television production company based in Belfast.

Afro-Mic started as a short-form digital indie in 2014 producing factual entertainment and drama shorts for Channel 4, Real Stories, YouTube, RTE and BBC. The switch to terrestrial TV was made in 2017 with the three-part obs-doc series The Search for BBC NI, currently in production for it's third instalment. Despite being a regional indie, Afro-Mic has since produced factual, factual entertainment and scripted programming for regional, national and international broadcasters.

In recent years, Afro-Mic has been recognised by UK broadcasters as a significant future player in the television industry. In 2019, Afro-Mic Productions was chosen as one of 15 up-and-coming UK production companies selected for the Indielab Accelerator Programme.

In 2020, the Channel 5 BAME initiative led to Afro-Mic developing and producing the two-part travel series Coastal Ireland, and most recently Channel 4 have announced Afro-Mic as one of the companies they will work alongside as part of their BAME accelerator programme.
