The Guild of British Camera Technicians is an organisation dedicated to maintaining high standards within the film and television industries.
The Guilds activities include:
* The Guild Answering Service - a diary service for working professionals in the camera department.
* Training - the Guild supplies highly skilled professionals for training schemes at all of the major establishments including the National Film School, the London Film School and the Metropolitan Film School.
* Events - the Guild stages events throughout the year and is planning a major awards event in the spring of 2007.
* Publishing - The Guild publishes for the benefit of the members a bi-monthly newsletter Techs Magazine which is also distributed to industry professionals, and an annual crew directory which is distributed to production teams throughout the UK.
* Merchandising - the Guild owns the rights to the Kelly Calculator which is the definitive depth-of-field calculator used by camera technicians worldwide. We also supply discount rates on clothing and insurance to the membership.
* Website - The Guild has a website www.gbct.org which strives to inform, educate and communicate with the production community.
