Responsible to: Company Manager
Contract: Fixed Term, until Saturday 30 March 2024. With an ideal start date of 2 January 2024, We can provide flexibility on the start date)
Location: Rehearsals will take place at English National Ballet, 41 Hopewell Square, London, E14 0SY (until Sat 13 Jan). Tech & Performances will take place at The Old Vic, 103 The Cut, London, SE1 8NB (from Mon 15 Jan)
Salary: In line with SOLT/Equity rates and above minimums
Direct Reports: Deputy Stage Manager, Assistant Stage Managers.
Role Summary
The Stage Manager facilitates communication across all creative and technical departments and manages the Stage Management Team. They oversee the smooth running of the rehearsal process and subsequently the day-to-day running of the production.
Your Team
The Stage Manager reports to the Company Manager (CM) and manages the Deputy Stage Manager (DSM) and Assistant Stage Managers (ASM).
Areas of responsibility
To be a proactive member of the Stage Management team and support the wider team.
Directly manage the Stage Management team and the running of all performances of the production.
Together with the CM, acting as a main point of contact and liaison between the Producer and the company; Deputise for the CM where necessary, acting as a main point of contact and liaison between the Producer and the company.
Run all rehearsals and technical sessions in liaison with the Director and Production Manager
Together with the CM ensure all SOLT/Equity guidelines are adhered to by the Director, including ensuring that overtime is not incurred without prior approval from the Producer
Manage the day-to-day running of the on-stage elements of the production including all rehearsals and performances.
Alongside the CM manage and schedule the Stage Management department
With the Technical HOD's, oversee and implement the smooth technical running of the productions, taking into consideration the needs of all departments
Alongside the DSM/CM; contribute to show reports and other production related paperwork.
Work collaboratively with all other TOV departments, including theatre technical team, to ensure the smooth running of the production, alongside facilitating pre and post show events
Learn all plots / tracks within your department in order to provide absence cover for other members of your department as necessary
Any other reasonable duty that would normally fall within the remit of a SM based on industry norms and practice

Person Specification
Demonstrable professional experience working on a musical in a Stage Manager (or Technical Stage Manager) role on tour / West End
Experience working on a new musical
Strong all round technical background with particular knowledge of stage.
Knowledge and experience of the working practices of a first-class professional production
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with excellent attention to detail
Proactive and flexible attitude
Experience working with creative teams and ability to manage expectations
Proactive and energetic with the ability to work with commitment and dedication to find solutions Discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential information
Knowledge of SOLT/Equity and SOLT/BECTU union agreements.
Awareness of current Health & Safety legislation.
