The Royal Shakespeare Company is looking to appoint a Head of Puppets for the upcoming production of My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, in London.

This position is offered initially as a fixed term contract until March 2026, commencing on 09 January 2025.

As Head of Puppets, you will manage the Puppetry Team in facilitating the smooth running of each performance from a puppetry perspective, as well as ensuring that all of the show's puppets are well maintained and show-ready, both throughout the rehearsal processes and for the duration of the show's run.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following skills and experience:

Experience in a senior Puppetry role working with a variety of puppets, in both size and operation, in a live theatrical production.
An understanding and practical knowledge of the principles and safe working practices of all areas of Puppetry in live performance.
Prior experience in puppetry making and maintenance.
Experience in creating and maintaining puppets to an initial design.
Experience of working with puppeteers in live theatre performance.
Rehearsals will take place in London, prior to the show transferring to the Gillian Lynne Theatre, London.
