Job IntroductionWe're looking for a Content Editor to help lead the national radio station for Wales. BBC Radio Wales is the English language radio station for Wales. We produce 140 hours of output a week, from production bases across Wales, with a broad range of content - including News, Politics, Sport, Entertainment, Comedy and Music. The Content Editor is a critical role in delivering the output day to day, leading on digital content, podcasts, driving the station's creativity and helping to shape future strategy.Role ResponsibilityThe purpose of the role is to oversee the day to day operation of BBC Radio Wales output, lead on podcast commissioning and development, build audiences on our digital channels and lead the implementation of our service strategies. This role will be part of the BBC Cymru Wales Leadership Group, and will regularly deputise for the Head of Radio.For a further breakdown of responsibilities, please see the attached job description. The Ideal CandidateYou'll be an experienced radio professional, with extensive knowledge of the audio industry and experience of working on podcasts. As well as knowledge of BBC Radio Wales, you'll also need to demonstrate an understanding of the wider market and how best to encourage audience growth. You'll have a clear understanding of the cultural and political landscape of Wales, strong journalistic/storytelling skills along with sound editorial judgement and an in-depth understanding of the BBC's policy and guidelines. You'll know how to foster diversity, on and off air.
