Are you ready to power the weekends at the UK's Number 1 Hit Music station? We're looking for an experienced Producer to join the world-class team at Capital and take creative ownership of multiple high-profile weekend shows - including the Official Big Top 40, the UK's biggest chart show broadcast across both Capital and Heart.

You'll be the creative force behind Capital's weekend programming - shaping the sound, crafting standout content, and delivering the moments that millions of 15-34s talk about.

From researching trending topics to scripting compelling competitions and planning must-listen shows, you'll be at the heart of Capital's weekend output. Working with presenting talent, digital teams, and music experts, you'll create seamless content that works across radio and Global Player.

Key Responsibilities

Producing 50% - Produce multiple Capital Weekend shows, including the Official Big Top 40, one of the UK's most iconic chart programmes broadcast across Capital and Heart, with responsibility for the live studio environment, radio desk and on-air output.



Research, Script & Plan 50% - Research, script and plan standout content for a 15-34 audience, support and develop presenting talent, manage show scripts and planning documents, deliver branded content features, and collaborate with Capital's digital team to drive engagement on Global Player.

What You'll Love About This Role



Think Big: You'll produce the Official Big Top 40, the UK's biggest chart show, plus multiple weekend shows for the nation's Number 1 Hit Music station, reaching millions of listeners every weekend.

Own It: You'll own the creative direction across multiple shows, making the calls that shape Capital's weekend output and delivering content that keeps audiences tuning in.

Keep it Simple: You'll take chart news, trending topics and big ideas and turn them into relatable, engaging content that 15-34s instantly connect with - delivering moments that matter.

Better Together: You'll collaborate with presenters, the Capital brand team, digital content creators, and music experts to create seamless cross-platform content that drives Global Player engagement.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you'll have:

Built great relationships and trust with your presenters and the wider Capital programming team

Demonstrated a strong grasp of the audience and Capital's content filter in the delivery of weekend shows

Gain an in-depth understanding of the Official Big Top 40 - from show planning and production to operational and technical delivery

Built a great collaborative relationship with Capital's digital team and become instrumental in helping to drive our digital content strategy forward, especially on Global Player

The ideal candidate will be proactive, creative, and ready to deliver industry-leading content:

Proven producer experience with a track record of producing top-rating radio programmes

Strong research, scripting and show planning skills - able to craft compelling content that captures the audience's attention

Confidence managing the live studio environment and handling the pressure that comes with high-profile weekend programming and managing the output of a radio desk

Creative firepower - full of ideas and able to inspire others

Talent development skills - able to bring out the best in both established presenters and emerging talent who need strong guidance

Audience and platform awareness - a passion for Capital's content and music, with an acute understanding of how to engage a 15-34 audience across multiple platforms

Goal-driven - confident working towards your own objectives while helping others achieve business goals

Detail-oriented - ensuring consistently high-quality output across multiple shows

Strong communicator - able to connect effectively with everyone from management to presenters, teammates and clients

Digitally savvy - you understand how to use digital platforms and build content that drives users to Global Player
