Wardrobe Assistant

London

The Royal Shakespeare Company is looking to appoint a Wardrobe Assistant for its production of My Neighbour Totoro at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, in Collaboration with NIPPON TV and IMPROBABLE.

This position is offered initially as a fixed term contract until April 2027, commencing on 27 April 2027.

The Wardrobe Assistant plays a key role in the smooth day-to-day running of My Neighbour Totoro, working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Wardrobe to ensure costumes are prepared, always maintained and performance-ready, including for rehearsals and any understudy performances. The role also supports the safe and efficient execution of costume plots, quick changes and backstage wardrobe operations throughout the run of the production.

To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have the following skills and experience:
* Previous experience working as a Wardrobe Assistant on a large-scale running production.
* Practical costume maintenance skills, including repairs and daily upkeep
* Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
* A calm, reliable approach when working under pressure.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with performers, wardrobe colleagues and other departments.
* Strong dressing experience, including managing fast-paced quick changes.
* A proactive and flexible approach to backstage and production support.
* A strong understanding of backstage etiquette, confidentiality and professional standards.

My Neighbour Totoro performs 8 shows a week, on a Tuesday to Sunday schedule, with matinees on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, at the Gillian Lynne Theatre, London.
