Please note this is a 2-year fixed term role. We are looking to fill TWO positions in this role.

The videographers will respond to briefs for filming, capture, streaming and broadcast provided by teams across the organisation and to bookings made by external partners using our venue. You will work to ensure that all projects are filmed efficiently and creatively, resourced and captured appropriately, archived, edited and delivered in a timely and professional manner.

The ideal candidates will be positive, pro-active and flexible, with an interest in both the technical side of production and the people who come together to create productions. You will need good, clear communication skills and with an entrepreneurial attitude. We are looking for someone with a broad range of experience in a technical, creative and communications capacity, with the ability to work at pace and with enthusiasm across a range of stakeholders.

Please not that this role will require regular evening and weekend work as part of your scheduled rota, in order to capture the full range of Factory International's activities.

Key responsibilities for the Videographer(s) role are;

Working to deliver across all filming and streaming activity in-venue from small-scale single camera interviews to multi-camera live captures, the videographers will respond to project briefs, assess needs for shoots and edits according to the delivery spec, respond to draft scheduling for jobs, configure kit lists, and prepare and check all equipment in advance of filming. Ensure kit is well maintained and that the inventory of equipment is always up to date
The videographers will film video on set and on location according to the brief in a timely, creative and efficient manner. Work will involve setting up and taking down cameras, microphones, lighting, props and other equipment, capturing material, and directing talent and contributors on set. Technically proficiency required across the use of a range of cameras, lenses, lighting and audio equipment, to enable to material to be always captured with the highest production values
The videographers will have a thorough understanding of the end-to-end process of live and as-live streaming workflow, from cameras and basic sound capture to vision mixing, encoding and online distribution channels. There are production control locations throughout the venue that will enable streaming and broadcast and it will be expected that the videographers will familiarise themselves with these systems so that they are able to fully support production broadcasting and streaming in venue
The videographers will have a working knowledge of a variety of editing software such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Avid and Da Vinci Resolve to enable them to undertake editing of footage to support delivery of material to internal and external teams - this may also include adding computer graphics, closed captioning and special effects to footage, selecting and implementing special visual effects, music, and specialist audio. The videographers will need to be able to convert videos between formats and export according to settings required to enable delivery and archiving to platforms and shared spaces
The videographers will support the management of the catalogue of Factory International's growing archive of produced work through the maintenance of server systems designed to store and share material as needed
The videographers will work constructively and positively alongside many creative teams from the in-house Digital Content, Creative Producing and Engagement teams to broadcast TV production teams and commercial agencies, supporting and facilitating the creation of filmed material. The postholders will ensure that FI maintains excellent relationships with artists, freelance crew members, production companies, and equipment rental companies for collaboration on projects
The postholders will support the day-to-day maintenance of key in venue video screens and platforms, uploading and scheduling content where needed
Around the 2023 Manchester International Festival, the videographers will work across the organisation to support the upscaling of production activity, facilitating both professional and student production teams to film, stream and deliver content and captures of the Festival
As the work of the technical department in the building evolves in response to the developing fields of VR, AR, AI and other innovations in the latest production techniques, the videographers will take a flexible approach to developing systems and working practices to enable emerging technologies to be folded into the ongoing delivery of the work of the department where appropriate
The person specification for the Videographer(s) role include;

ESSENTIAL

Proficiency across the use of cameras, audio, lighting, editing, graphics, streaming and grading of filmed material
Effective planning and organising skills. Ability to manage several areas of work at one time, prioritising, delivering consistently to deadlines and reacting positively to changes and conflicting priorities
Confidence and ability to communicate and work effectively across teams and with a variety of people internally and externally
Positive and enthusiastic attitude, including a flexible approach to developing and delivering the role. A solutions-focused, pro-active member of the team, willing to get involved, to try and test ideas, and to learn. An ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment
Commitment to championing representation and inclusion at every level of the organisation with a proven ability to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds
DESIRABLE

Experience of, or an enthusiasm for learning about and developing skills in emerging technologies across screen, audio, immersive, gaming, VR, AR and AI technologies

An interest in working in a busy and changing environment and in supporting the setting up and implementation of systems and processes

Enthusiasm for training, mentoring and support of emerging talent
