Video Production Manager

London

Job Purpose: To be fully responsible for planning, commissioning, contracting, producing and storing video content from across all stakeholders within the RHS, with a range of suppliers and production companies.

Dimensions: Coordinate idea generation and planning from across the RHS for creative and horticultural video content; commission production companies with fully developed briefs; coordinate reviews and approvals of video content; ensure video content is properly contracted/documented; archive video content within our DAM; maximise value for money from shoots; coordinate requirements from stakeholders; work closely with different teams to realise commercial opportunities; ensure all rights and contracts are clearly defined and adhered to.

Accountabilities:
1. With Head of Digital Asset Management, develop a rich media annual plan that explores the potential for video and how it can help share the best in gardening.

2. Manage all video requirements and requests from across the Society, to develop new and inspiring content that responds to the varying work of the RHS. Ensuring video content is prioritised according to the rich media content plan and key stakeholders' needs and briefs are met.

3. Collaborate directly with colleagues to generate/assess ideas for new video content and develop video storyboards and scripts.

4. Collaborate with other content producers across the business to plan video content that is closely aligned to audio and visual content and reusable across multiple platforms.

5. Plan video production schedules, resources and requirements to meet the needs of all Society departments.

6. With Head of DAM, be responsible for all contracts, licenses and permissions as required for all video shoots, ensuring legal accuracy and protecting future use. Create Society video production guides and standards.

7. Coordinate video shoots and when necessary provide on-site planning and coordination to organise groups of people, on-site health and safety accompaniment, coordinate insurance, procure equipment, obtain permits and releases, and provide on-site creative production support.

8. Regular travel to our different shows and gardens (which may need overnight accommodation), overseeing staff and contractors to deliver the production of required videos. Regularly meet with teams in/from Peterborough, Wisley, Bridgewater and other sites to plan in content that delivers engaging horticultural/gardening stories from across the RHS.

9. Accept delivery of all video content and associated documentation. Review and annotate all rushes, final cuts and clips. Work with the production companies to guide final edits, accurate branding, horticultural accuracy and excellent product delivery. Provide support to RHS staff and external production companies during post-production and take responsibility for final approval. Coordinate and perform transfer of assets to local storage, the DAM system and/or archive storage.

10. Work closely with the DAM team, to ensure video content is held within the Society's Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, and that metadata and all associated documentation is accurately applied according to agreed standards to ensure ease of accessing, sharing and proper usage in relation to agreed rights. Perform video ingest in varying formats and metadata entry.

Person Specification

Essential:
Ability to think strategically, anticipate opportunities and pressure points to serve internal and external clients throughout the lifecycle of each video project.
A proven ability and flair for imparting creative information and storytelling via planning, storyboarding, and video production.
A true team player with an enthusiasm for working with colleagues and building relationships with colleagues and external production companies.
Communicates clearly with colleagues and manages their business expectations.
A clear understanding of the rich media environment and how the RHS business fits within it.
Knowledge of organizing, cataloguing and tracking of assets and the importance of metadata
Basic knowledge of copyright law, best practices, and applying/enforcing licensing terms and conditions
Have a natural curiosity for emerging video content trends and technologies and a willingness to share best practices with all departments.

Experience:

Commissioning and creation of a range of rich media including video, video clips for social media platforms and GIFs.
Proven experience in creating and successfully implementing organisation-wide content marketing or video content plans.
Proven output that is both creative, on-brand and accurate.
Operational experience with video workflows and media asset management.
Operational experience of partner and vendor relationships.
An ability to create new storylines from previous videos.
Understanding of how to measure and analyse the impact of video content via social media, web platforms, apps, and live audiences to meet KPIs.

Desirable:
Experience reformatting video content into agreed video formats and codecs.
Leading a visual production campaign at an event/show.
Experience cataloguing video assets and ingesting assets into a DAM system.
Using video from an archive and entering accurate metadata according to a standard.

Skills - Job Competencies:

Understanding of the role of digital asset management and how video can be best shared.
Strong copywriting skills and the ability to convey complex creative ideas in written briefing forms, scripts and storyboards.
An ability to work with others and create inspiring content via superior project management skills, setting expectations, and clearly communicating.
A calm and methodological approach to operational challenges.
Outstanding attention to detail and organisational skills. Keen eye for quality and catching errors in video assets.
Work exceedingly well in a team environment, comfortable collaborating daily with stakeholders and with team members across all teams and locations.
Viewing and commenting on video content with different software. Giving effective feedback to production companies to achieve the desired deliverables or video edits.
React positively to changing demands and aggressive deadlines. Ability to prioritise effectively when working under pressure
High level computer proficiency and knowledge of everyday software and apps (Microsoft Excel & Office, social media channels, file transfer systems, CMS, YouTube, etc.)
Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written English.
Ability to travel as required on average two days a month (travel will be paid for).
Ability to stay away overnight as required, usually up to 5 nights per year
Full UK driving license

Desirable:
Advanced use of Adobe Product Suite for video processing including Premiere, Prelude and After Effects.
Use of a database including inputting data and searching for information.
Demonstrated commitment going above and beyond to help internal stakeholders and external production companies.
