Job Title: Video producer/editor (podcasts), video departmentLocation: LondonContract Type: Permanent, full time (including six-month probation)Closing date for applications: May 23rd 2025The Economist is looking for a producer/editor to create engaging video content based on our award-winning podcasts.In this role you will work closely with the podcasts team to film, edit and produce compelling video versions of our podcasts. These videos will be designed for multiple platforms, including our core app and website-serving 1.2m subscribers-and our broader audience of 65m followers across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and other social-media channels.We're looking for someone with a journalistic background, demonstrable experience in filming and editing, and a deep understanding of The Economist's editorial voice and what makes it distinctive. You will have a track record of producing successful podcast videos, including the selection of engaging clips, and will be confident handling the entire video production process-from commission to publication. A solid grasp of social-media strategy and platform-specific content creation is essential.The producer/editor will play a key role in expanding the reach of our journalism through video, using creativity and insight to amplify our podcasts and attract new audiences and subscribers.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with The Economist's podcasts team, video team and correspondents to conceive and plan video content that promotes our podcastsProduce, film and edit compelling video content-managing the full post-production process-for digital and social-media platformsManage content on social-media platforms, in particular YouTube, and analyse engagement dataStay informed on broader trends in podcast video and proactively apply innovative approachesRequirementsAt least two years' experience in a relevant fieldProven ability to create digital videos, including vertical and short-form formats; experience making videos of podcast is a strong plusFamiliarity with The Economist's podcasts and broader journalism, with a clear understanding of what sets our content apartProficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; experience with other editing tools such as After Effects is an advantageA strong grasp of current affairs and excellent news judgmentSolid understanding of social-media platforms, with insight into publishing strategies informed by analytics and content performanceAwareness of podcasting formats and current industry trendsAbility to meet tight deadlines, take on feedback constructively and manage multiple stakeholder expectationsKnowledge of relevant legal and commercial regulations
