Video Editor

Work from home and on location in the NE

KEY INFORMATION
Hours - Full time (40 hours, Mon-Fri, 9-5.30 with flexibility required/given & some ad-hoc weekend working required)
Contract - Permanent (6 months' probationary period)
Annual Leave - 20 days pa (plus bank holidays), plus your birthday off
Reports to - Production Manager
Location - Working from home but required to film weekly on location up to 30 miles radius
Preferred Start Date - Monday 7 June 2021

OVERVIEW
We're a passionate and driven bunch at Dr Tim Pearce. We're on a mission to create the world's best eLearning for doctors and nurses who want to build their own private clinic in non-surgical cosmetic treatments. We have enjoyed international success in the last year, and are looking to grow the range of products and our reach on social media- and we need your help!
Our existing team of 7 are all based from home with meet-ups as required for filming and other creative sessions.
We have a vacancy for an experienced video editor who also knows their way around a studio, camera, and how to film. Your job is to use the power of video to capture and hold attention and then deliver technical ideas and concepts to our audience. Your technical skills should be up to the job of creating well-lit, well composed video and audio and then editing that footage to a brief you will shape with the rest of the team.
The role will be project-based, with periods of intense focus on making educational video products and then periods of making social media content to engage and grow our audience.

THE ROLE
Creative Planning, shooting and editing consistently engaging, empowering and informative video content to be used and re-purposed across all the Dr Tim Pearce branded platforms (include website, social media and YouTube).
Outputs range from newsworthy social videos to short informative videos to in-depth paid eLearning videos. Repurposing videos and clips according to its intended platforms, e.g. Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo etc.
Filming and photographing content which can later be repurposed for publishing on a number of our digital platforms.
Responsible for taking high quality photos, for use across our various marketing channels, including basic graphic design e.g. to place the photos within branded templates.
Mixing sound and colour-grading video content, ensuring materials are ready to be published on our platforms.
Developing production plans, timelines and processes to ensure smooth delivery of post-production for multiple platforms.
Contributing to creative sessions and sharing ideas or design perspectives, and bringing your own new ideas to the team for consideration.
Researching and staying on top of best-practice techniques in branded content creation.
Providing expert knowledge of how we can innovate in content creation and setting high standards of amazing content output.
Ad hoc project work for the Directors as required.

THE SKILLS
Strong knowledge of DSLR cameras (...we use Panasonics).
2+ years' experience in video editor/videographer role where an efficient-pace of work is the norm.
Proficient in Adobe CC suite, especially Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, Photoshop. 3D Software or Davinci Resolve and/or sound design process is a bonus.
Experience of setting up shoots in a studio environment (3 point lighting, portrait photography, etc.)
Excellent visual techniques and cinematography skills, including colour grading.
Working from home relies on you being highly organised to manage your own work and deliver to tight deadlines.
Experience in developing slick processes to make the most of limited time shooting on location (e.g. rapid set up and minimising re-takes).
Empathy for our audience - a desire to understand their motivations, hopes and fears, and know how to produce videos that best meet their needs.
Attention to detail with a keen eye for design to proactively hunt for opportunities to make things zing. We have an exemplary reputation to uphold, so everything you deliver must reflect that.
Confident communicator to receive feedback and instructions from daily MS Teams calls whilst working from home. When working on-location, you've strong interpersonal skills to work with the public and keep your subjects feeling relaxed so they can perform.
Curious seeker. You're like a hawk with a sharp eye for detail and being able to spot mistakes.

THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS
STAGE 1 - Apply for the role including a covering note relating your experience to the skills we're looking for, and a link to your showreel or examples of your work.
STAGE 2 - Following success at Stage 1, we'll invite you to an MS Teams/Zoom interview with us.
STAGE 3 - If successful in interview, we'll ask you to complete a timed task which you'll upload to YouTube as 'unlisted'. This will not be used by us unless you are successful in your application.
STAGE 4 - You'll join us on a final MS Teams/Zoom call where we'll ask you some questions about your completed task and you'll talk us through your creative decisions.
