This is a varied role, with the Video Editor managing section writers and editors across historical editorial, gaming and travel, along with ensuring the promotion of other History Hit products.

We are looking for a Video Editor to oversee historyhit.com's editorial output and growth. This is a varied role, with the editor managing section writers and editors across historical editorial, gaming and travel, along with ensuring the promotion of other History Hit products within articles, social media and email.

History Hit is the UK's biggest digital history brand across Video on Demand, podcasts, social media and the web. Its website, historyhit.com, receives 1m sessions a month globally.

History Hit is part of Little Dot Studios, one of the world's fastest growing next-generation media companies. Little Dot Studios' digital history brands Timeline and Absolute History already generate more than 1m unique video views a day, with Timeline amassing 2m subscribers on YouTube alone.

HOW YOU'LL SPEND YOUR TIME
* Editing short form and long form content for SVOD and social channels including TikTok and Instagram
* Create animated maps, stats and title sequences to help drive narrative where archive is lacking
* Develop and work with existing branded templates
* Managing archive library, following existing edit processes and naming conventions
* Writing copy films, understanding the importance of editorial voice and tone
* General department support and assisting the Producers with the running of History Hit TV
* Provide feedback and guide Junior Editors

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Skills matter, experience is useful, attitude is everything.
* Must have experience in either of the following editing software tools: Adobe, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Adobe Creative Cloud, Premier Rush, After Effects, Da Vinci grading etc.
* Understanding of template building and topography and typography essential
* Experienced delivering archive based films
* Experience leading and advising on Art Direction and comfortable making editorial decisions
* Ability to work on your own and as part of a team. You need to be well-organised, efficient and self-motivating.
* Advising producers and creatives on production problems and the ability to spot possible problems ahead of time. Experience cutting long form and short form content
* Ability to work under pressure managing multiple tasks and maintain a release schedule across multiple social platforms.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
* Understanding of the heritage and related education sectors
* Dev team / agency briefing experience for new product features
* While we will review applications from different sectors, a humanities degree or professional background, particularly in history, is advantageous given subject matter
