About the Project
Legasee Educational Trust (www.legasee.org.uk) is a UK charity dedicated to preserving and sharing veterans' stories through filmed interviews and digital educational resources.
Thanks to a new grant awarded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Aden Veterans Project will record and share the stories of British servicemen and women who served during the Aden Emergency (1963-1967). Working with schools, volunteers, and cultural partners in Blackpool and beyond, the project will create an oral history archive, podcast series, verbatim theatre production, exhibition, and educational resources.
Purpose of the Role
The Video Editor will be responsible for editing the filmed oral history interviews and related digital outputs, ensuring high-quality, accessible, and consistent presentation across all content. The role will support Legasee's aim to preserve veterans' stories for future generations and make them engaging and usable for education and public audiences.
Key Responsibilities
1. Edit approximately 40 filmed 1 hour oral history interviews with veterans of the Aden Emergency, producing clean, colour-corrected, and well-balanced master files suitable for long-term archiving.
2. Create short thematic extracts for use in educational and promotional materials, podcasts, and exhibitions.
3. Maintain consistent visual style and branding across all project outputs.
4. Work closely with the Project Manager and Oral History Filmmaker to ensure accuracy and respect in the handling of veterans' testimony.
5. Prepare subtitles and transcripts where required to improve accessibility.
6. Manage data securely in accordance with Legasee's archive standards and GDPR requirements.
7. Collaborate with volunteers or students who express interest in digital editing, offering basic guidance and encouragement to support skill development.
8. Supply project-ready deliverables in agreed formats and resolutions, following Legasee's archive and upload protocols.
