Technical Stage Manager

ATT Perth Centre, Ruthvenfield Way, Perth, PH1 3AF

Active Training Team Ltd are a London-based company who use experiential and immersive training to bring about behavioural change in people and organisations. Our training combines interactive experiences, film, drama, live action and facilitated discussion. ATT have created and are opening an immersive, theatre-based, one-day induction day for a Scottish energy company. The location for this induction is in Perth, PH1.

The purpose of the role is to deliver all technical aspects of the induction day for ATT clients at the purpose-built immersive centre. To provide leadership on-site for the cast and crew presenting the Trust induction experience to all participants.

Reporting to: Technical Department
Shifts: The number of shifts a week at our centres is determined by the client's needs. ATT rotas its freelancers monthly.

General Duties:
- To set up, test and operate the immersive show, in constant communication with the crew.
- To manage the timings and logistics of training sessions in the afternoon.
- To ensure that ATT deliver the high-impact, high-quality learning outcomes required by the client.
- To be an effective and empathetic leader of the delivery team, so that they feel supported and able to produce outstanding sessions, every time.
- To ensure that ATT deliver the high-impact, high-quality learning outcomes required by the client.
- To check props, help maintain the training centre and to report any problems.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties as required by ATT with regards to the centre.

List of example Tasks + Responsibilities:
- Operating the technology to cue the immersive performance media, and organising the cast and crew
- Troubleshooting any technical/video/audio/projection issues in real time, in consultation with staff at headquarters and our technical supplier
- Working alongside the CSM to ensure the day runs as smoothly as possible for everyone involved
- Monitor equipment / software and report on any issues at the centre
- Provide support to the daily cast and crew team in running the day
- To be the first port of call for any technical aspects of the centre and to ensure AV works efficiently
- When AV or related issues arise on a delivery day, to decide how to proceed, whilst communicating with the Company Stage Manager, and ATT Technical Department.
- To liaise with our technical maintenance supplier about any existing issues, and to support them on maintenance days

Health + Safety:
- Be a nominated Emergency First Aider and Fire Marshal at the centre (training will be provided where necessary)
- Lead on any necessary evacuation/emergency procedures as required.
- Ensure health and safety standards are upheld within the centre at all times.

Necessary Skills/Experience:
- Experience and confidence with technical and AV equipment, especially when in relation to theatre and live events
- The confidence to investigate and fix any technical errors or issues, and vocabulary to effectively explain the issue
- Excellent communication skills, including giving important daily briefings
- Excellent time-management and organisational skills
- Experience of a front facing role, able to be welcoming to participants but also to deal with complaints or concerns appropriately
- Able to engage in light manual handling duties
- Decisive approach to problem solving
- Ability to remain calm and to work flexibly in the event of an emergency

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Dedicated AV training
- Confidence working with technical software
- Confidence working with Windows
- Experience working in a theatre or live events venue
- Experience working with a stage management team or crew
- Experience working with actors
- Experience with live training
- Confident, friendly and approachable
- Proactive attitude, approach to maintaining and improving the centre
- First Aid or Fire Warden training
