Technical Operations Manager

Cardiff

The role will oversee Cardiff Operations, working to integrate team with London based Operations and Cloud services. The UK Post Business offers a range of services through specialist teams focused on the differing needs of the Feature, Episodic and Streaming markets. This role will work across all these markets.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations Management
* DIT / Dailies Operations - identify talent / establish and manage DIT systems / manage Technicolor Dailies systems / oversee onset projects and support technical operations as and when required
* Grade / Mix Session preparation - load projects onto systems, set up systems for Reviews or Cardiff based Grade / Mix Sessions, provide support to visiting talent (will require basic operational knowledge of Baselight Grading and Pro Tool technology)
* Troubleshoot operational issues with London team
* Liaise with Production / Sales to understand upcoming projects. Review technical specifications and feed into workflows

Workflow / Pipeline
* Understand the full colour journey from camera all the way through to delivery and give guidance to others on best operational / technical practices
* Liaise with Technicolor Colour Science team on Colour Pipeline setups and management
* Work closely with the Workflow Supervisor to map out and document project specific Workflows / Pipelines
* Manage the testing of the complete process prior to the start of a project and follow up to ensure consistency

Technical
* Calibrate projectors, displays and sound systems
* First Line support for London based Engineering and Cardiff based Contractors
* Understand and troubleshoot storage / infrastructure systems and escalate issues to Engineering and global support teams

Line Management
* Engage and supervise Assistants
* Maintain a talent pool, engage and supervise Freelance DITs

Business Development
* Work with sales to understand project needs and design / setup workflow
* Product lead in client meetings to help productions understand and utilize products / services

Product Development
* Support product development for Front-End Services
* Network with clients to see what features can be built into Product offerings
* Gain an insight into editorial processes and procedures to help with workflow integration where possible

EXPERIENCE
* Excellent technical knowledge of Digital Dailies activities, with deep knowledge of camera formats along with the associated colour and metadata management including ALEs/CDLs/LUTs etc.
* Strong knowledge of the DIT role and on set process including associated colour management BLG, CDL, LUT etc.
* Good technical knowledge of Editorial and Conform activities including EDL / ALE manipulation, Conforms etc.
* Understanding of Data & I/O Operations including LTO formats and operation
* Good networking and storage knowledge
* Experience of (and interest in) digital production workflows used on high end feature and broadcast projects
* Experience of monitoring / reporting / ticketing tools
* Experience of dealing with high profile clients
