We are all continually bombarded with an unlimited supply of information. The information we are surrounded by creates a bubble, and this bubble has a profound impact on the quality of our lives. Medea was founded in pursuit of helping people to recognise the bubble, understand its workings, and to take control.In pursuit of our cause, ProjectX is Medea's first Location Based Immersive Experience, opening in London in 2025. We are recruiting for someone to join our production team to lead the technical direction and the development and delivery of interactive theatrical technology mechanisms (including bespoke), of this ambitious and ground-breaking project to great success. This role would be particularly suited to a creative individual with an engineering or technology background.About Medea and ProjectX:Medea Creative Productions is a creative production company formed in 2022, made up of a team of UK and international cross-disciplinary experts and specialists across immersive experiences, performing arts, festivals, TV and film. Collectively we have 100+ years' experience of creating and bringing to life ground-breaking, inspiring and transformative experiences. Medea aims to shine a light on the production, circulation, digestion and impact of information so that people can be empowered to make factually informed choices. We help people to think critically via The Arts, through highly playful, personalised, awe-inspiring experiences: this is impactful storytelling with purpose. Medea has built a network of world-class creators, researchers and designers to deliver projects and multi-channel activations beginning in 2024 in London. Our high production immersive entertainment will engage and empower audiences, placing them at the heart of the experience.ProjectX (working title) is an entertainment-forward, narrative-driven, highly-interactive, multi-sensory, location based experience which is physically, psychologically and ontologically immersive. We design for awe. Tuning into our bodies, minds and emotions to create impactful storytelling with purpose.What you will be doing: - Working with the Creative Director, Creative Production Manager and Production Designer, lead Technical Direction across all technical departments, for a new large scale location based experiential production.- In close collaboration with the Creative and Production team; lead technical solution finding for interactive theatrical mechanisms, including the development of bespoke interactive technology, with sensitivity to the creative development, direction and design, considering feasibility, budget, scale, partnership opportunities, etc.- Alongside the Producer and Creative Production Manager recruiting, coordinating and managing teams of AV, LX, technical, design and illusion specialists in creative technical solutions.- Project Management of bespoke audio visual and special effects software and hardware development, design and delivery.- Supporting development and delivery of the Production Design Pack, from a technical design and direction perspective.- Working with the Creative Production Manager and Producer to prepare tenders for technical production companies, across relevant technical production categories.- Working in close collaboration with the Creative Production Manager, in the management and delivery of above elements of interactive and bespoke Technical Production.What proven experience you will need:- Leading Technical Direction for large scale location based productions, with specialism in immersive experiences, for 10+ years.- Developing and integrating bespoke technology into theatrical environments.- Working in collaboration within large teams of diverse creative and technical specialisms.- Integral understanding of technical production and design, including audio/sound, lighting, bespoke technology, special effects, interactive mechanics, illusion.- Expert familiarity with industry-standard software and specialist technical equipment related to sound, lighting and network configurations.- Extensive knowledge of safety regulations and protocols within the theatre and entertainment industry. - This role would be particularly suited to a creative individual with an engineering or technology background.What skills you will need:- Skills and experience in creative engineering, technical production, digital, electronics, software.- Solutions oriented mentality and desire to work collaboratively with the team in mounting a brand new production. Exceptional technical solution finding, design and problem solving skills.- Ability to adapt nimbly in an untraditional setup and environment.- Ability to lead, manage and motivate technical production teams effectively.
