Studio Trainee

London

Job Title: Studio Trainee (full time)
Location: EC1 & WC2N (currently home working)
Reporting to: Head of Production
Hours of work: Mon- Fri 08:30 - 17:30
Remuneration: £18,000 per annum (+£500 per quarter increments)
Holiday: 25 days per annum (+1 extra each year)
Start date: Monday 2nd November 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic government guidelines, this position has been moved to working from home. An edit PC will be provided (on a loan basis) until we are able to return to the Studio.
Currently, we are recording remotely, editing the footage and publishing the webinars with slides to our platform from home.
A reliable strong Internet connection is required for this role.

Essential requirements:
- Keen, enthusiastic, capable (can-do attitude) and willingness to learn
- Punctual and reliable - most events are live
- Warm, confident, welcoming with diplomatic skills. It is of critical importance to the end client that all speakers (often Barristers and Accountants) are treated with the utmost courtesy and professionalism.
- Basic technical skills. (We build our own encoders, edits and service equipment).

When returned to the Studio in Farringdon, London:
Basic skills expected (white balancing a camera, remove a cough in the edit) advanced training will be provided. The role involves some heavy lifting moving tripods and equipment.

Key role functions:
Live Studio Webinars:
- Wiring of participant's microphones
- Filming on 4K camcorders
- Recording and Live mixing on Newtek's Tricaster 8000 vision mixer & vMix Pro
- Live encoding
- Production control of streaming to all devices
- Running webcast software to synchronise PowerPoint presentations
- Monitoring output

Recorded events
- Editing using Adobe CC
- Uploading, data transfer & encoding

There are also various filming and potential live streams on location:
- Remote vision mixing using vMix
- Studio bookings and liaison
- Studio tours
- Maintenance, Studio upkeep and housekeeping
- Encoding - general
- Editing and post-production
- Statistical reporting, analysis and quality checking

Back-up and archiving of all recordings on Blu-ray.

Interests required:
- Adobe CC editing skills in Premiere, Encoder, After Effects & Photoshop
- vMix video mixer
- Understand the components of a PC and able to update RAM, a HDD, graphics card etc
- Encode formats (bit rate, codec etc)
- Video cameras & photography.
- Audio editing.
