Create and Craft are seeking a live multi camera Studio Director to join their TV Production TeamABOUT USCreate and Craft are the award winning shopping TV channel devoted to home crafts and creative hobbies. Our channel is live for 14 hours each day broadcasting onto Freeview, Freesat, Sky and Virgin TV platforms, as well as being broadcast on our website and much of our output is now simulcast live to the USA.Our fun and interactive shows feature card making, sewing, baking, jewellery making, needlecrafts and scrapbooking alongside many other niche crafts.The channel has been on air for over 14 years from our studios based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.THE ROLEYou will report to the on shift Supervising Studio Director and the Studio Director Manager.The role requires the Studio Director to simultaneously direct and vision mix the live output for up to 6 hours per shift.Studio Directors at Create and Craft are in command of live camera operators, audio department, vision control, lighting and VT. Studio Directors are responsible for all of their own VT and stills playout, gallery counts and some aspects of on air live graphics control.Working in the live gallery, you will function as part of a team with the Live Producer, Presenter, Assistant Producer, Floor Manager and the Technical Multi-Skilled Operators to create our output.When outside of the gallery you will be prepping the studio floor, checking that the product displays and demo requirements meet briefs and standards, preparing show formats with producers and presenters as well as briefing with the visiting guest experts and product demonstrators.As part of the role you will create pre-production briefs and post production reviews, looking to constantly improve levels of output and make suggestions to take programming forward, making new opportunities to connect with the viewer and better demonstrate productsTHE CANDIDATEApplicants should have a strong technical background and a creative flair. Live studio experience is desirable as is a familiarity with shopping TV or the crafts industry.We are willing to consider any applicant with live studio experience in a trainee position on a three month probationary basis. The role would suit a vision mixer or studio operator looking for a challenging role in live TV operations.We are seeking someone with strong verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude and a person who thrives under pressure. The successful applicant should be able to demonstrate problem solving abilities and possess quick decision making skills.POSITION DETAILSThe TV teams work a 12.5 hour day on a rotating 7 day fortnight shift pattern with start times ranging from 6.30am to 12.30pm. There will also be occasional opportunity to work on our overnight filming, outside broadcasts and live web streaming, creating additional on air and web based educational and interactive video content.Salary will be offered dependant to experience.
