Channel 4 News is seeking a Specialist Multimedia Producer to join its digital team. This role is responsible for delivering high-impact, high-quality explainer journalism to a global audience across multiple platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.The successful candidate will lead the production of our successful video on-demand explainer series, growing our viewership and community on long-form platforms while developing formats and deliverables to reach new audiences on social platforms.They will provide rigorous analysis and context to the most significant global stories, as well as creating content that platforms under-reported and under-represented stories, communities and topics.Key Responsibilities End-to-End Production: research, script, and produce journalistically robust and technically outstanding original VOD and social contentSmart and Creative Treatment: develop imaginative visual treatments for complex stories to ensure compelling delivery for social audiencesStandards & Compliance: ensure all output meets the highest editorial standards, remains accurate, and complies with media law and relevant regulationsProject Management: lead and collaborate with larger production teams, including reporters, producers and independent contributors, to deliver exceptional digital and broadcast productsKnowledge Sharing: serve as a digital ambassador by sharing best practices and innovative storytelling techniques to the wider newsroomOperational Flexibility: support the output of other news-desk or programme teams, adapt to shifting digital output priorities, lead alternative projects if requiredFieldwork: be comfortable operating in the field, both domestically and internationally, particularly during breaking news eventsEditorial Leadership: be available to support daily digital output by contributing to the Online News Editor shift to ensure delivery of distinctive digital newsThese are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. Key Requirements Required skills and experience:Experience: 5+ years of video journalism experience with a proven track record of producing content that delivers large audiences on multiple platforms and in multiple formatsExplainer expertise: a track-record of success on pitching, producing and delivering video on-demand and social media explainers to an international audienceEditorial judgement: strong ability to provide depth and context to complex and controversial news stories, maintaining the highest standards of accuracyPost-Production: high-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and PhotoshopVisual storytelling & writing: a flair for visual expression and excellent writing ability with a focus on analysis, investigations and global current affairsLeadership & innovation: ability to take the lead on substantial digital projects, overseeing teams and innovating formatsSafety & Policy: highly developed understanding of media law, OFCOM guidelines for broadcasters, production risk assessment and hostile environment logisticsOperational Resilience: ability to work autonomously, remain calm under pressure, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-turnaround news environmentProfessionalism & Teamwork: strong interpersonal skills and personal authority, with a deep understanding of the Channel 4 News brand, output, and editorial focusDesirable experience and skills:Technical Production: camera-operator experience (in studio or on-location)Motion graphics: production of motion graphics to enhance news storytellingBroadcast: working in a television newsroom and successfully adapting and maximizing linear television output for digital audiences
