To work across Channel 4 News digital platforms with a focus on scripting, producing and edit high quality social videos from Dispatches, Unreported World, and Untold. This role is based in the London office.To create and oversee the production of material that is both shareable and true to the spirit of the original programme, with a respect for both the unique remit of Channel 4 News and Channel 4's audiences.To oversee the schedule and production of social content with Channel 4 and 4Studios on the editorial and stylistic direction of the digital coverage.To get maximum digital impact for quality video material of all kinds on social platforms, through development of those platforms. This role will include shift work, weekend work and some UK travel.Key Responsibilities Work across Channel 4 News digital platforms - with a focus on producing exclusive and news-making content that engages our key demographic and reach the largest audience possibleFilm, self-shoot and capture high quality footage for digital platforms in both studio and field environments, including during breaking news situationsTo write scripts from complex documentaries that work for short form platforms and use editorial judgement to develop interesting narratives for digital videos - securing millions of views for our content in the digital worldTo edit digital videos to the highest standards of production. To script these videos in a clear, concise and punchy mannerTo oversee and organise the digital coverage of the Untold series, corresponding with Channel 4 and 4 Studios on editorial and stylistic pointsTo ensure all deadlines for digital edits and cut downs of time sensitive documentaries are met according to contractual obligationsTo facilitate good relationships and communication between production companies, Channel 4, Channel 4 News and ITNTo manage digital engagement with the audience via social media and create and produce interactive multi-platform formatsMaintain the highest standards of spelling, punctuation, and grammarProvide imaginative treatments for complex stories and present complex ideas simply and in a compelling mannerEnsure stories are accurate and comply with the law and relevant regulationsWork in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety in the office and in the fieldWork on wider Channel 4 News digital output, with the programme news-desk or other programme teams if requiredOccasionally work in the field, at home and abroad, during breaking newsThese are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. It is intended to reflect the nature, range, and context of the work, which will change over time.Key Requirements An exceptional journalist and digital native who works to the highest editorial standards and has experience working with or on long for documentary content/journalismStrong organisational skills and ability to adapt to changing timetablesAbility to work and communicate effectively and professionally with external companies e.g. production companiesA proven track record of producing agenda setting journalism across digital platformsAt least three to five years' experience in a newsroom dealing with the highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail around often complex and controversial materialManagement experience a plusGood knowledge of Adobe CSExpert understanding and knowledge of social media and experience working across a wide variety of platformsStrong team-working skillsStrong digital news judgement - with a knowledge of what will play well on social and how to make itHigh quality news judgement, editorial creativity and imaginationAbility to work autonomously and under own initiativeFlair for expressing stories visually and an excellent writing ability, especially with longer form or narrative-driven text and multi-media contentHighly developed understanding of complex legal situations and understanding of ITN Legal Compliance proceduresUnderstanding of Channel 4 News agendaGood interpersonal skills, team player with personal authority and the ability to manage a group of peopleCalm under pressure with the ability to adapt and be flexible in task and roleAbility to work to strict deadline in a time-pressured environmentPlay an authoritative role in team editorial meetings presenting ideas in a persuasive mannerAct with responsibility and common sense in the field and office, in compliance with ITN's Health and Safety PoliciesStrong filming, shooting and camera skills, with the ability to self-shoot high quality footage for digital platforms in studio and on location
