To balance sound on all of 5 News' output whilst keeping within all legal sound levels. To set up communications for all lives.
Responsibilities

To be able to cope with the constant alteration of running orders and different sound sources of differing quality both in video and lives
To understand all aspects of sound metering, limiting and compressing of sound
To understand communication both in the field and in the sound control room in order to set up communications effectively, between any source and the studio
To use 4-wires and deal with the setting up of remote sources
To communicate effectively with the director, technical director and MCR operatives in the various control rooms
To undertake full management of the sound area, and maintain a process of constant improvement where possible

Qualifications

Must have experience in live news or sport mixing in the field of sound communications
Must be able to react quickly to changing situations
Must have the ability to remain calm under pressure
Must have a knowledge of all studio and gallery functions
Awareness of health and safety issues related to studios
