Social Media Community Manager and Content Creator

Remote REMOTE

This is a remote position.

Are you a social media virtuoso who knows how to build a large audience on Tiktok and Instagram? Can you curate, create and write content that gets shared widely? Excited about taking on and beating the far-right and fighting for justice?

If so, we'd like to hear from you.

We're looking for fast-thinking creatives who can turn real-world political moments into social media gold. You should know how to grow a community of engaged followers with reactive and planned content, develop a tone of voice and have a knack for spotting shareable content and amplifying it across the world.

What You'll Do:

Grow and manage a large social media following through curation of content from around the world and our own content
Spot the big moments and turn our commentary into shareable gold
Edit and produce high-impact videos and graphics
Create conversational connections with the community and build relationships with other creators, accounts and aligned communities
What We Bring:

A team with experience of making the most compelling political campaign content - including some of the people behind art/activism collective Led By Donkeys.
High-quality, edited content from real-world interventions across the world
?Support in developing the tone of voice and identifying opportunities for content.

Inclusion and Diversity
We know that diverse teams lead to better outcomes and each new hire is a chance for Own the Space to bring in new perspectives and approaches. We welcome applications from all backgrounds regardless of gender, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation and cultural identity. We aim for Own The Space to be a welcoming, supportive and creative place to work.

About Own The Space
Own The Space was founded in 2022 to support individuals and groups seeking to have a positive impact in the world. Its directors have led campaigns for Led By Donkeys, The Syria Campaign, Greenpeace and many other organisations on issues such as political accountability, climate change and human rights.

Requirements
Proven track record of making content that reaches millions and growing audiences.
Understanding of political narratives, trends and how to make politics funny.
Skills in curation, copywriting for social and content development.
Drive to be part of a small, highly creative team taking on some of the most powerful actors in the world.
We know this is a lot to find in one person - but if you think that's you please get in touch. We don't need you to be a political nerd [we've got that covered] but we do need you to have an interest in global events and the stories the media tells about them.

Finally, if this role isn't quite the right fit, but you're keen to work with us, please upload your CV as we're always looking to grow our network of designers, editors, creative producers and campaigners.

Benefits
These roles will be offered either as freelance contracts or fixed-term employment contracts.
Salary is comparable with international campaign organisations and creative agencies. Own The Space has fixed rates for different levels of experience to keep compensation at our organisation as fair and equitable as possible. For this reason, we don't negotiate on salaries/fees as data shows this leads to pay inequalities.
Preference given to UK, MENA, European and EST time zones.
We are also open to applications from two person teams.
