Shooting Researcher
Salford
BBC Studios is looking for two Shooting Researchers to join the Rip Off Britain production team.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating second cameras and capturing GVs using FS7s and FX6s, working under the direction of the Producer/Director or Director. You will also provide technical support as required, ensuring all footage meets the highest production standards.
This role requires experience filming on location, often in sensitive or challenging environments. You should be comfortable working with contributors who may be vulnerable and able to approach every situation with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
The successful candidate will have experience working on fast-turnaround, short-form content and possess a strong understanding of current affairs, consumer programming, and relevant editorial guidelines. You should also be a confident and experienced driver, capable of managing logistics and transport for location shoots.
In addition, you will be responsible for backing up rushes efficiently and securely, as well as ensuring that all consent and release forms are completed on location during shoots. Attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive attitude are essential for success in this role.
WHY JOIN THE TEAM
Rip Off Britain is BBC One's flagship consumer series, regularly reaching more than 1 million viewers. Presented by Gloria Hunniford, Julia Somerville and Louise Minchin, the series tackles the problems viewers ask for our help with, holds to account the companies in the wrong, and arms the audience with invaluable advice.
2026 ushers in the show's 18th series and introduces some exciting new elements alongside its usual incisive investigations and explosive scams and compelling character-led stories.
BBC Studios is looking for a range of people to join our Salford-based team.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

Your technical skills will be second to none, meaning you think ahead as to what is required by your self-shooting director, supporting them to work quickly and efficiently.
Your shooting skills will be strong enough that your director can rely upon you to shoot second camera confidently, producing rushes of a high standard, suitable for transmission on BBC One.
You will be starting to develop your own style and visual flair, meaning you can offer GVs, cutaways and occasional sequences on location to augment the VT in hand.
