Series Producer (Content Editor)

BBC Sport is looking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic Content Editor to work across all our football output with a principle responsibility for MOTDx.

We want BBC Sport's output to reflect and understand the audiences we serve - for example, the different geographical regions of the UK and the experience of people from underrepresented groups (eg people from Black, Asian or minority ethnic backgrounds, people with lived experience of disability, individuals within the LGBTQ+ community and those from lower socio economic groups). We are therefore actively seeking individuals with skills or experience that can help contribute towards ensuring we maximise the diversity of our coverage and content.

Role Responsibility
MOTDx brings you the lifestyle of football, music and culture from around the Premier League and the Content Editor will be expected to creatively lead a production team and deliver a weekly show for BBC Three meeting that ambition.

Based on the department's strategic aims, the successful candidate will be expected to:

Drive a creative vision for the show for 2022/23 onwards.
Oversee the planning of the week to week filming of the series, formulating their own ideas and commissioning content that works across platforms.
Managing the programme budget alongside the PM to realise editorial ambitions within operational and financial constraints.
Lead a production team across the season including identifying, developing and supporting new talent on and off screen.
Work across other BBC Football output as required.
The applicant will give office based editorial support to the Football Lead Executive, Creative Lead, and Production Manager and help to deliver - on budget - the various programmes throughout the season.

The Ideal Candidate
Substantial experience in television and digital/social production as an Editor, Series Producer, or Producer.
A detailed understanding of the logistical requirements of producing TV, with magazine programmes in particular.
Significant experience leading teams both internal and external, with examples of creative, innovative leadership enabling teams to flourish.
Experience in generating content that has impact for 16-34s and underserved audiences.
A good knowledge of the major digital platforms and the differences between them in terms of potential and how they can be exploited is required.
Proven editorial judgement, flair and the ability to make valid decisions quickly.
Experience of delivering projects on time and to budget, making the best use of the resources available, offering cost effective solutions .
Demonstrate budgeting experience, working with UM's and PMs and a thorough understanding of the costs associated with productions.
A practical awareness of the latest technology applicable to broadcasting.
Commitment to BBC Sustainability targets, working in partnership with the Production Mgt team to drive initiatives to achieve this
Must be able to ensure a close working relationships with other areas of BBC Sport and the wider BBC.
Evidence of working with other organisations - independent producers, governing bodies, rights holders etc.
Experience of liaising and dealing with talent on a daily basis and their agents.
Experience in the identification and development of new talent on and off-screen.
A thorough knowledge of football and the Premier League in particular.
