BBC Studios NHU are looking for a Series Producer to take on a unique production for the NHU. The series is a high-end big budget FIVE-part series for a US broadcaster. It is a fresh and exciting take on the Natural History genre - blending blue chip natural history imagery with state of the art VFX. The ideal candidate will have experience in both genres, but we encourage candidates with experience in blue chip Natural History or VFX to apply.Role ResponsibilityThe successful candidate will have to be used to working with, inspiring and managing big teams, managing multiple edits and will have superb organisation skills to handle the complex post-production process alongside the Production Manager. The ability to think creatively and express visual ambitions to others is essential as it is an opportunity to make something unique. They will work closely with the Executive Producer and Production Manager and on the delivery of the vision of the series on time and on budget.The role will involve every level of production, script writing, directing, setting up foreign and complex shoots and post-production to delivery - on time and within budget. Experience of working/signing of Risk Assessments essential and knowing and understanding BBC processes ideal but not a pre-requisite. This is a role that will need the ability to push the boundaries to inspire the team, to create a series like no other. The Ideal CandidateYou will need clear evidence of ambitious natural history film-making and the skills, experience and talent to ensure the team deliver this ambition.A superb track record of visual flair and strong story telling within sequences, through episodes and across landmark natural history series.The ability to build and lead large creative teams over long projects.An excellent understanding of how to use new technology in a creative way that enhances storytelling and brings a new look to a series. Strong writing skills and extensive experience leading producers through long, challenging edits.Entrepreneurial flair and the ability to forge relationships with new partners who could collaborate with the BBC on logistics, innovative technology or access.An excellent track record in managing health and safety on complex projects in remote locations.Be a great communicator and team player who can work well with Production Managers and Executive Producers, commissioners and co-producer partners.The ability to work closely with the Production Manager and Executive Producer to strategically manage risk and sequence selection in order to maximise money and resources on screen. Be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the audience needs.The ability to think big and turn complex natural history stories into compelling television.A good understanding of the rapidly changing digital world and its relevance to landmark natural history series.
