Senior Producer

Responsibilities

NBC News is looking for a Senior Producer to join the On Assignment team. As a Senior Producer, you will work to find, report and cover major stories around the world, including breaking news, initiative stories and long form projects.

The On Assignment team produces long form shows on a regular basis while also producing Richard Engel's coverage of international affairs for all of NBC's many platforms on TV and online. The unit is focused on reporting and producing original stories while also covering major breaking news around the world.

Senior Producers on the unit are responsible for the long form projects but are also deeply engaged in the daily work of covering the news.

Working in some of the most remote and difficult places in the world, you will supervise and direct the work of producers, crews and local teams while ensuring the safety, integrity and performance of everyone involved. As a member of the unit you will collaborate with the other producers and support their work, coming together as a team when the story calls for it and assisting from afar to make every story we produce better. Working with Richard Engel and the unit's executive producer you will create compelling and important stories for all platforms, primarily for broadcast

Qualifications/Requirements

Job Description :
• Managing complex schedules and logistics, as well as maintaining editorial oversight of multiple stories being shot simultaneously around the world.
• Keeping several long form shows on track, on budget and on time, while also handling breaking news when needed.
• Coordinating with all other parts of NBC News, MSNBC and digital platforms. Each of our productions - whether it's a live shot, a Nightly News piece or a story for the website, requires close coordination with many parts of the NBC family around the world. You will need to navigate these relationships and excel at coordinating the various processes that get a story on TV or on the web.
• Owning the production process, from pitching original and ambitious international stories, to supervising a sizable team in the field while reporting the story, all the way back to the writing of the script and supervising the edit process.
• Travelling extensively, often on short notice to chase stories wherever they are around the world.
• Working well within a team devoted to fast-paced and unpredictable coverage. You will need to be flexible, loyal to your colleagues and focus at all times on how to make the story - any story - better.

• Mentor and grow more junior team members

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Educated to Bachelors Degree level
• Must have at substantial experience as a senior producer at a major broadcast network
• Must have extensive experience covering international news at a major broadcast network
• Demonstrable understanding of major international stories and regions of coverage, based on first hand experience in the field
• Demonstrable experience producing live and taped segments at major international events.
• Ability to use a video camera and a DSLR competently
• Must be proficient in Outlook, iNews, twitter, Facebook, etc

REQUIREMENTS
• Full English language capabilities
• Must be willing and able to travel frequently and work flexible hours (including weekends) under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news.
• Must be able to work or travel when news breaks, regardless of any pre-planned schedule.
