Senior Producer

London

Discovery Education delivers innovative, digital teaching and learning services for subjects across the primary curriculum, in parallel with tailored professional development. Our mission is to help schools and students achieve great results by aiding them in embedding and leveraging digital resources and tools in their daily teaching practice.

Formerly Espresso Education, we have built a great reputation over the past 20 years across UK schools and educators. We are highly valued in ten thousand schools for the quality and integrity of our digital content.

You will be the Producer of our News services for our core products and services. As such, you will play a key role in assuring the quality and integrity of our content. You will be responsible both for the day-to-day editorial excellence and accuracy of our news output. In addition, you will be asked to review video scripts and edits at an approval stage.

Job overview

The post-holder will have editorial responsibility for daily and weekly news services, and for the production of topical and curriculum content videos. The post-holder will line manage the assistant news producer and senior video editor.

You will have an up-to-date rich contacts book, and will be fully conversant with self-shooting and editing technologies and disciplines. You will be hands-on, and will be able to seamlessly switch between a quick location shoot, working alongside an editor on creating a new video, and advising on scripts for a set of videos designed to explain multiplication to seven year olds - perhaps all on the same day. You will need to be an excellent writer and script editor, and used to managing competing priorities and deadlines.

A key aspect of this role will be liaison with other departments within the company and with education stakeholders beyond: you will need to work closely with the production, technical development, partnerships and marketing teams, and will need to be a strong communicator to ensure that senior management and the wider company are kept informed of developments in news services, and the value that they add. You will also be expected to play an active part in promoting the company's mission and services, and to keep informed of any external developments which might present market opportunities or impact on the company's strategy, through school visits and presentations to schools. You may represent the company at industry events.
