The Economist is looking for an experienced senior producer to join our editorial video department to produce live digital programmes. Working closely with our series producer, you will be part of a team responsible for planning and producing two live programmes a week featuring senior journalists from The Economist and prominent guests. These programmes will be varied, and experience in, and a passion for, foreign affairs, politics, finance, business, technology and culture is desirable.The ideal candidate will have worked as a journalist, with experience in editing, scriptwriting, guest booking and live event production or tv news. They will work closely with the series producer to develop compelling and insightful live digital programmes. We're looking for a candidate who is excited by the prospect of delivering editorially-rigorous and engaging programmes that make sense of news now, and seek to explain what will shape the world in the future. They will need to be able to brief contributors, as well as staying composed in a fast-paced, live production environment.Responsibilities:Propose, create and deliver editorially-rigorous live streaming programmes that appeal to important target audiences, in line with The Economist's strategy to retain and attract subscribers Help shape programme planning and proactively pitch ideas Lead the pre-production and planning of live programmes, including running orders, picture research, graphics and briefing contributors and hostsGallery-produce and direct events, in conjunction with the live production teamBid for and secure interviews with high-profile guests, as well as set up, produce and direct shootsEdit, using Premiere Pro, impactful video cutdowns, from live events for promotion on The Economist app and social media, and for marketing purposesRequirements:At least five years' experience in tv or video journalism and current affairs or news Experience in live events, tv news or webinars Ability to edit short vt packages to quick deadlines using Premiere ProStrong knowledge and understanding of The Economist's brand, digital content and style guide Self-starter, who's comfortable working independently Understanding of media law and commercial regulationsAdvantageous:Ability to self shoot, with experience filming in studios desirableExperience setting up, producing and directing multi-camera studio shoots to a high standardExperience producing interviews with high-profile guestsExperience of mentoring junior colleaguesExperience using After Effects and Photoshop
