Senior News Editor

Sky News is looking for a Senior News Editor to lead our Home Affairs team, within the Specialist Journalism department. This person will need to coherent and impactful leadership, editorially and administratively, to support our correspondents and producers working in our effort dedicated to Communities, Crime, Health, Royalty, and the work of the Home Editor. This team will be a cohesive and fairly autonomous team in its own right, but existing within the wider Specialist department, and contributing overall to our world class Newsgathering effort.
What you'll do:
Contribute to the editorial direction of some of Britain's best specialist news correspondents and producers.
Work closely with the Home news desk, and the head of specialists, on the day to day management of the team, in order to balance the demands of on the day news and longer term work.
Contribute overall, as senior news editor, to the editorial strategy, and journalistic endeavour, of the Sky News newsgathering effort.
Help support our continuing evolution into a multi platform operation, in which the requirements of the news channel and other platforms have to be balanced appropriately.

What you'll bring:
Significant experience of news editing, or being a senior producer or journalist, in a world class multi platform newsroom.
A proven track record in delivery of original content
Experience of managing teams with clarity and humour in stressful environments
Experience of helping to nurture and guide the careers of colleagues
Where you'll work:
To be based usually in Osterley, but able to travel at short notice to other parts of Britain and the world.
