Senior Journalist

About the Role

As a Senior Journalist for LADbible Group, the ideal candidate will have experience in sourcing, pitching and writing stories that align with our brand mission and are of the highest editorial standard. They will create engaging, shareable news and trending content as well as forward planning for evergreen content across our brand pillars. They will also take ownership from commissioning to publication, helping to guide junior members of the team when needed to ensure content aligns with LADbible's tone and is accessible, audience-first and unique.

What the opportunity looks like

Identify and write stories spanning across a range of topics

Produce high quality content at pace, maintaining accuracy

Sourcing stories from social media, original reporting and other relevant channels

Optimising content for SEO and social platforms, while also ensuring SEO best practice across the team where relevant

Collaborate with other teams to develop cross-platform storytelling and ensuring our coverage is best in class

Monitoring data daily against targets and ensuring content hits targets using tools including Google Analytics and Chartbeat

Support editorial lead with commissioning and editing when needed

Work as part of a weekly rota which includes evenings and weekend work

Skills and experience we'd like you to have

5 years minimum working in journalism and/or digital news media as a writer or editor

Strong news sense with ability to pick out viral and culturally relevant stories

A strong working knowledge of media law

Strong sourcing capability to find the story and write/react at speed to breaking stories

Demonstrable SEO knowledge and experience optimising content for site and social

Experience editing short form and long form content

Experience leading on editorial projects, including working with a commercial team where necessary

Experience and be comfortable writing across a variety of topics - including breaking news, politics, entertainment, money, science, and more.

Experience using data to inform content choices and be comfortable making editorial decisions guided by data

Experience in commissioning and also refining pitches from journalists and freelancers where applicable

A strong editorial judgment, collaborative mindset and being adaptable and reactive to breaking news and content needs on a daily basis
