We're looking for a Senior Designer to join a very special new 2D pre-school series called, Maddie + Triggs for CBeebies and RTE. This audio-first series is founded on the principle that 'If two kids, one sighted and one vision impaired, sit down side by side to 'watch' the show, neither will have a lesser experience'. With accessibility as a primary consideration, you'll create background, prop and character designs, turnarounds and other assets, following the design style guide. Previous series experience is essential.

responsibilities
Working from descriptions given by the art director/series director and by reviewing scripts and animatics, you'll create the look of multiple new characters, props and backgrounds that follow the bold and graphical visual style for the show, using Adobe Animate. Once a character design has been approved, you'll create poses for model sheets to aid rigging and animation, helping to keep the character consistent and on model across the series.
Complete all rough, revised and final designs necessary within assigned deadlines.
Resolve design problems with creative supervisors.
Communicate progress of work to appropriate production staff.
Ensure all artwork is properly backed up and stored appropriately.

person specification
Ability to closely follow established design rules, using minimum necessary detail to create a variety of new characters and objects, through simple geometric shapes, strong silhouettes and contrasting colours.
Ability to convey a characters' personality through design attributes, facial expressions and physical poses.
Uncluttered 'storybook' design compositions that focus attention on characters and action.
Differentiate characters by contrasting form, colour, scale, and weighting.
High level of technical drawing skills to create clean and precise artwork.
Creativity and innovation.
Experience using the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
Experience of using FTrack is desirable but not essential.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Series experience is essential.
Experience in a similar role.
Understanding of the 2D animation pipeline.
