Segment Sub Editor

Becoming our Sub Editor, this requires a natural instinct for maintaining interesting, varied content, as well as a fastidious and meticulous commitment to accuracy.
You'll collaborate with the Heads of Production and Brand Editors in order to ensure the latter is able to maintain a steady flow of content from external compilers to be delivered to the Designer. The primary function of this role is to check and edit the content and layout of each page across a range of brands within segment, ahead of the Brand Editor's approval.
As Sub Editor, you will support the Brand Editors when creating new content for bumper editions, one shots and specials throughout the year and liaise with the Promotions Department, and other departments as necessary, to get relevant pages approved.
This role comes with the opportunity of hybrid working - a mix of working from home, and attendance to our office in London.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate on all content areas.
Correct inaccuracies and all other text on the page.
Use creativity to freshen up the pages whilst maintaining their appeal to existing readers.
Write and subedit any supporting copy.
Ensure adherence to style guides.
Each article delivered and sub-edited to a high level of accuracy, and to deadline.
Make editorially agreed changes to pages and source files on screen in InDesign.
Assist the Production Editor or Deputy Group Production Lead in reading and clearing final proofs to press, as necessary.
Assist the Brand Editors in keeping each issue on schedule by subbing a set number of pages, as well as completing other tasks over an agreed time.
Solve back pages for other Brand Editors in the department, as necessary.
Assist the Deputy Group Production Lead in other editorial duties when required.
What You'll Bring:
Strong ability to work in a team and independently.
High level GPS knowledge - and/or highly proficient in subbing on InDesign.
Highly proficient in subbing raw copy on base articles and in InDesign, and an understanding of their relationship to templates/smart pages.
Desirable to have a working knowledge of Monday.com.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Commitment to accuracy of grammar, spelling, language, tone and sense. Good eye for detail and strong ability to fact check.
Ability to work and communicate with a range of stakeholders.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, working to deadlines and adapting to last-minute changes.
Adaptability to new ways of working and working across multiple brands and multiple channels.
Ability to describe and demonstrate the Bauer values and purpose.
