It involves investigating complex social issues, liaising with experts, and maintaining detailed records to uphold editorial standards. Responsibilities will include:Investigate and verify facts, procedures, and social issues to ensure authenticity and credibility in scripts and storylines.Collaborate with writers, editors, and producers to provide research insights that shape character development and plot consistency.Establish and maintain relationships with professionals across various fields to gather accurate information and perspectives.Keep comprehensive logs and audit trails of research findings, sources, and communications for editorial transparency.Attend story meetings, offer alternative approaches, and provide research-based ideas to enhance narrative depth and realism.YOUR SKILLLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:Experience as a Researcher for TV/Radio Drama and/or in other specialised fields, e.g. journalismDemonstrable experience of thorough cases studies undertaken reflecting your broadly based knowledge and a familiarity with conventional and specialised sources of information and research techniques Add up to fiveProven ability in liaising with a wide range of stakeholders, including experts, writers, and producers, with tact and professionalismMeticulous in maintaining audit trails, verifying facts, and ensuring continuity across multiple storylinesAn informed interest in television drama production and especially EastEndersDESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:Awareness of television drama production processes and the research support required to tell complex, socially relevant storiesExperience contributing to story development and offering research-informed ideas in writers' rooms or editorial meetings
