The Bitesize Teens portfolio provides help, support and inspiration to young people across the UK, aged 11-16, and their parents. The portfolio covers Bitesize Topical, Parent's Toolkit, Bitesize Careers, Study Support and our media literacy project Other Side of the Story. This role will be focused on Parent's Toolkit but will work across the portfolio depending on project demands. Our teams aim to give kids the tools to develop the skills to thrive and survive in school and life and be a place to come for help and advice for those who may have nowhere else to go. We also provide parents with guidance and understanding on key moments and issues in their children's lives, from pre-school to teenage years. This is in line with the overall aims of Education as a department, which are to: • Provide every child in the UK with a personalised learning experience through BBC Bitesize;• Support & inspire classroom learning with world-class, curriculum linked programming; through BBC Teach;• Address societal and educational deficits within the UK through campaigns. Main ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will pitch and write articles for BBC Bitesize Parents' Toolkit and Topical, as well as commissioning articles from external writers. You will also be responsible for managing the Parents' Toolkit homepage and make sure all content is logged and organised. You will use online statistical tools to help monitor the success of content. You will build articles using our content management system and source suitable images. You'll be full of ideas with a strong knowledge of the latest trends, issues and platforms in young people's lives. Good communication skills to deal with contributors, schools, internal and external stakeholders is essential. The ability to make and edit content for digital platforms and write articles would be an advantage, as would the potential to self-shoot. You'll have a passion for young people, be keen to learn and have a proactive, can do attitude.Are you the right candidate?ESSENTIAL SKILLS• Some experience of writing articles for the web or print• Experience in web content production and in using content management systems • Demonstrable interest in writing and journalism• Some experience of using analytics tools• Ability to generate ideas • Proven ability to time-manage and juggle lots of different tasks• Photo-editing experience• Other Desirable Skills• Good writing skills • Ability to create content for digital platforms• Ability to make content for young audiences• Ability to work with talent and contributors • Ability to work with both internal and external teams and partners• Passion for engaging with hard to reach audiences and the BBC's values
