Research Head - UK and Australia

Job Summary

Comedy Central is a recognised TV brand in the UK with quality content, a receptive and growing audience, and a promotional platform.

This role is a key strategic function in the Comedy Central management team and is deeply involved in advising within strategic brand, content and programming decisions on the cluster level.

Overseeing brand-led ratings analysis activities across all countries within the cluster, the Comedy Central research head is responsible for country-level as well as consolidated Comedy Central, channel and content performance tracking, analysis, evaluation and reporting.

The role is also the cluster geography expert for Comedy Central and will represent the cluster priorities and views within the brand research council as well as manage cluster level research & insights projects in collaboration with the HQ brand research group.

Partner with the Cluster corporate research head and the VIMN Research Council as well as other cluster brand research leads to develop and maintain effective and aligned research leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Help drive audience growth and brand appeal through the delivery of actionable insights based on research and analysis.
• Responsible for regular (daily, weekly, monthly) ratings/performance data gathering through the TechEdge system as well as digital reporting for use by all cluster and local functions including programming, scheduling, marketing, Sr. Management and LOBs (Ad-Sales, DM, CP, CDM, IPS, etc.).
• Draw objective inferences and conclusions from the gathered data.
• Consolidated management of any local country research efforts to bring them in line with brand cluster needs.
• Produce robust audience forecasts to help with business planning.
• Work closely with the Comedy Central GM, representing the consumer perspective.
• Provide strategic program analysis for planning purposes; work closely with the cluster and local Content and Programming teams.
• Use ratings data to optimize schedule for premieres, stunts, marathons, specials etc.
• Represent the Comedy Central view at brand and VIMN research councils, actively participate in shaping international projects and take the lead in managing assigned international tasks, duties and projects including brand development & strategy projects as well as consumer insights development.
• Utilize international brand and corporate research projects, tools and information as best possible, be the Comedy Central advocate for such efforts, and help improve them through participation in the relevant councils and committees.
• In a key client service role, provide analysis and insight into the core brand audience and media landscape to help counter program.
• Build and maintain a strong relationship with cluster research peers (other brands) and the HQ research teams as well as any local teams within the cluster.
• Assure proper information sharing for international brand ratings reporting -responsible for delivering interpretation of performance data to the HQ brand research leads.
• Support any local research teams by being a collection / distribution point for all brand specific research from the central teams
• Keep abreast of Media Industry trends
• Communicate relevant information to all brand research within cluster
• Provide Comedy Central executive teams with research information on which management and directional decisions can be based
• In collaboration with cluster and international teams, work with key LOB functions (Ad-Sales, DM, CP, CDM, IPS etc) to provide relevant business critical information and insight including but not limited to NPD sales data, Business Intelligence information, TV Everywhere analysis, etc.
• Manage ad hoc cluster-led projects including brand and channel research studies & assigned budgets

• Fluent in English, demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills; second cluster language preferred

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Demonstrable media research experience, preferable analytical experience in UK TV- ratings & digital data
• Experienced with working in a commercial international environment
• Proven experience with both quantitative and qualitative primary research
• Project management experience
• Bachelor's degree
