Reporter/Assistant Producer

Soho, London

CoinGeek is a media organisation supporting the development of Bitcoin SV, the app-friendly Bitcoin which is true to the original vision of Bitcoin inventor Satoshi Nakamoto - hence SV, meaning Satoshi Vision.

Don't worry if that's all new to you. We are looking for someone with the journalistic skills to get to grips with developments in the subject in order to make them accessible to a wider public. Most people have joined the organisation without knowing much about Bitcoin!

CoinGeek produces articles, videos and podcasts, as well as regular international conferences. It has offices in London and Manila and its own team of reporters, producers, writers and editors. Working closely with a London-based producer, you will also coordinate with the media production team in Manila.

This is a combined on and off-screen role. We are looking for a reporter who can direct and front short videos and conduct interviews on and off camera with leading figures from the Bitcoin SV world. They might be investors, entrepreneurs or developers. You would need to be able to brief yourself in order to find the most interesting and newsworthy subjects to cover.

In the assistant producer role, you would be working regular hours in the office, setting up shoots, researching information and contributors, supervising edits and organising filming logistics. There would be some writing of news and features, often based on videos you had made.

Responsibilities:
• Setting up shoots, booking and managing contributors
• Directing shoots, and doing some self-shooting
• Supervising edits, and doing some editing yourself
• Gaining a broad understanding of the Bitcoin SV world and familiarity with its key players
• Coming up with ideas for media content and new ways to produce it
• Presenting your own reports and interviews on camera

What are we looking for?
• Proven experience in an editorial role - whether in news or a more commercial environment
• Demonstrable writing ability
• Some video production skills, such as camera operation and/or editing
• Attention to detail - in both logistics and editorial output
• A personable on-camera presence (although your on-camera experience need not to be extensive as long as you are willing to develop it)
• Ability to work efficiently with colleagues near and far, and to adapt to fast-changing priorities
