Programme Producer

Are you a journalist who is passionate about the people, places and stories that come from our coast and countryside? ITV Cymru Wales is looking for a multi-skilled storyteller with an abundance of brilliant ideas, who would relish the opportunity of an attachment with ITV Cymru Wales' popular Coast & Country series.

Now in its tenth season, the show is well established and we are looking for a self shoot and edit producer to join the team for its autumn/winter run. As the Producer/Director on items you will be responsible for sourcing, planning and directing location shoots with presenters and reporters. Being inclusive and representative is important in all our programming and we are especially keen to increase the numbers and prominence of stories that appeal to our Black, Asian and minority ethnic audiences.

You will liaise with the Series Producer to select the best content for each location and produce finely tuned scripts. On location you will be responsible for directing the craft camera crews and getting the very best out of our on screen team and contributors. You will also work with the Series Producer to deliver the edit to tight deadlines. A willingness to travel and a love of the outdoors is also essential.


To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

Minimum role criteria:
Must have experience of on the road directing/producing for a quick turnaround production.
Experience of managing/producing others
Experience of high pressure shoots, including multiple technical operators
Highly developed script writing skills
Sound editorial judgement
Long form edit experience would be an advantage
Iosh trained for Risk Assessments
Full UK driving licence

The key criteria will be:
Demonstrable experience of being able to research, set up, film and edit packages for the programme, ensuring a smooth workflow and delivering items on time.
Proven enthusiasm for bringing stories from rural and coastal communities to the screen in a creative and visually appealing way.
Excellent editorial, ethical and legal judgement, maintaining professional journalistic standards and adhering to ITVs legal and regulatory guidelines.
Be pro-active about diversity, ensuring you reflect stories from across all the communities of Wales.
Support and help produce online content supporting the series, across a range of platforms.
