Production Manager

London

With over 350 hours of in-house output a year, BBC Drama Production makes some of the most original, diverse and highly acclaimed television. These range from continuing drama such as EastEnders, Holby City, Casualty, Pobol y Cwm, River City and Doctors and Daytime Series & Serials such as Father Brown and Shakespeare & Hathaway

Role Responsibility

Varied project work and analysis across all Continuing Drama and Daytime Drama Series including early preparation of budgets and schedules for projects in development.

To contribute to the formation and implementation of Drama policies and procedures.

To lead the way in raising industry standards and pioneer new working practices.

To identify opportunities and actively promote collaboration across Drama.

To keep the Continuing Drama and Daytime Series Production Shooting and Transmission Schedules updated.

Responsible for monitoring daily filming schedules and progress reports and producing information for clear analysis.

To ensure accurate and up-to-date contact lists are held for each production

Monitor all incident and accident reports, ensure timely sign off and provide analysis on patterns/recurrences across the portfolio.

Collate and file all Health and Safety minutes

Ensuring up to date copies of the Continuing Drama Series Business Continuity plans are filed in the Drama Department in Television Centre and that annual rehearsals take place.

Routine check of asset registers and mandatory training logs across the productions.

Act as focal point for internal and external queries relating to Continuing Drama and Daytime Drama Series, in particular the Production Managers, Co-ordinators and Post Production Supervisors.

Monitoring Audience and Press coverage of the Productions.

General administrative work to include filing and managing correspondence

The Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you must have a passion for TV Drama, especially continuing drama series.

You will need to have worked to the level of Production Manager in the TV industry & have an understanding and commitment to the aims of Continuing Drama Series & Daytime.

You will have a thorough knowledge of the production process, including studio/location, live/pre-recorded processes, craft roles and facility/technical requirements.

You will have a sound knowledge of internal and external resource and facilities markets and market costs and have sufficient knowledge to assess competence of contractors/suppliers to meet BBC requirements and ensure requirements are met before contracting takes place.

You will understand the implication of editorial decisions on rights obligations and work successfully with the production team to ensure that all rights obligations are properly fulfilled or that editorial content is changed as appropriate.

You will have comprehensive knowledge of BBC policies and procedures, editorial guidelines and compliance, Terms of Trade, rights and delivery requirements, copyright, insurance requirements, working with children, conditions of service, working time regulations, scheduling guidelines, relevant agreements with trade associations, trade and talent unions and PACT arrangements.

You will need to have the ability to remain calm, organised and focused under pressure & you should be a superb communicator with diplomacy and discretion.

You also need to have excellent inter-personal skills, the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and possess strong IT Skills.
