The Production Manager will be responsible for the planning, management and delivery of all technical aspects of Barrowland Ballet's performance projects and touring productions. Working closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Producer, and supported by a full-time General Manager, the role will have the opportunity for continued development as an essential part of a high performing team.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo lead on all aspects of production and technical planning, management and delivery for all Barrowland Ballet projects and touring. This includes:Work with the Artistic Director, Producer and colleagues to develop technical and production management plans to achieve creative vision for the workLiaise with the Artistic Director and Producer to establish the design and technical needs of each project, and support the identification and management of specialists requiredCoordinate the translation of the designs (from models and plans) into specific information required by external builders and suppliers, including technical drawings, sketches, and material specifications, ensuring due consideration is given to the needs of onward touring of the work - including building and touring of the work internationallyLiaise with the creative team and external specialists to decide on the appropriate methods of construction for the realisation of the designsOversee the management of all technical and production assets and equipment required including procurement, hiring, maintenance and storage.Support the advance planning of national and international touring, liasing with promoters, venue and festival production teams to ensure Barrowland Ballet's work continues to presented to the highest standardsLead on the coordination of all technical requirements related to access provision (e.g. captioning and audio description)Lead on the preparation, updating and distribution of all production paperwork required including Technical Information &; Specifications; Production Schedules; and Show ReportsCreate and manage technical and production budgets within agreed parametersUndertake technical operator and stage management roles as requiredRecruit, manage and support additional freelance technical and production teamsWork with the wider Barrowland Ballet team to ensure robust operational and logistical planning across the organisationDevelop and implement Health and Safety procedures; ensuring all production and technical elements are compliant with current Health and Safety legislationAct as First Aider at base and on tour (training provided, as necessary)Represent Barrowland Ballet in relevant meetings and forums, supporting the company to build and develop relationshipsSupport the monitoring, reporting and evaluation of workKeep up to date with developments in the technical and production areas of theatre as it relates to the company and contribute to strategic and creative planningOperate in accordance with the organisation's employment, Health and Safety, equal opportunities and other legal requirements, organisational practices, policies and proceduresAlways act in the best interests of Barrowland Ballet and undertake other duties as appropriate to the roleESSENTIALSignificant experience in a production management role for a performance company or venueA thorough working knowledge of all aspects of Production and Stage ManagementExtensive experience of touring performance workExperience of managing individuals and teamsExperience of relighting, sound, video and set buildingExcellent project management skills including planning, scheduling and budgetingAbility to draw plans using CAD (e.g. Vectorworks or similar software.)Working knowledge of EOS and QLAB softwareStrong written and inter-personal communication skillsHighly proficient with a range of IT systems, including knowledge of Mac and PC computersA thorough understanding of health and safety within a production management contextCurrent valid driving licenceDESIRABLEExperience of touring in Scotland and InternationallyFirst Aid qualificationUnderstanding and appreciation of contemporary dance-theatre, participator performance projects and work for young audiencesPERSONAL ATTRIBUTESThe ability to represent the company, especially when on tourHighly organised with excellent efficiency and time managementCommitment to working to the highest possible artistic and technical standardSelf-motivating with an ability to use own initiativeResponsive and flexibleHappy and effective working collaboratively as part of a close-knit teamThe ability to remain calm, professional and positive when working under pressure
