Secret Cinema writes, produces and operates astonishing events based on much-loved films and TV shows. Founded in 2007 we have over 50 productions to our name from Grand Budapest Hotel to Star Wars, Blade Runner to Rome+Juliet, James Bond to Stranger Things.
Our format is extremely flexible in terms of scale, location and source material. Where we are consistent is that we always put the audience at the heart of our productions.
We have always struggled to capture the essence of our shows in a small number of words, Baz Luhrmann did a pretty great job when he called us 'One crazy majestic night - part theatre, part cinema, part rave - all spectacular!'.
Over the last 2-years we have opened shows in Shanghai, LA as well as our lockdown-inspired digital events, and we have a slate for the next 24-months that's unbelievably diverse and exciting.

Everyone at Secret Cinema works closely with the story department and is encouraged to contribute to the creative process. We work at high speed on multiple projects, although not all see the light of day, all are approached with enthusiasm and passion, as no two shows are the same.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Production Manager to work on the development, planning and execution of all physical production aspects of our shows ensuring the successful interpretation, engineering, realisation and safety of the designs. You will play a pivotal role in the success of our award-winning productions.

The role will be based in London but may be required to travel abroad. You will be reporting into the Head of Production and working closely with the Producers, Creative and Operations teams in bringing our productions to life.

Purpose of the Role
To lead on the production and technical aspects of Secret Cinema shows from development through to delivery ensuring that we make the best and most cost effective use of budget, resources and time within the designated parameters.

Key Responsibilities
Working alongside the Producers, Head of Production, Operations Director, and Creative Director, lead the design and technical production process from concept through to delivery;
Assist the Producers & Senior Leadership Team in establishing and setting resources, timescales and budgets for Secret Cinema productions;
Lead and manage a production management team on each project;
Ensure that all technical and budgetary parameters are clearly articulated to creative teams and work closely with the team throughout the development and design process to help them make the best use of budget, resource and time;
Throughout the production process, promptly feedback any financial and practical concerns to the producers and creative team and guide them to a version of their artistic vision that fits within the designated resources;
Work up detailed costings for for the scenic, technical and venue infrastructure elements for each design iteration ensuring that designs can be delivered on-time and within budget;
Assist the Operations Director & Head of Production in assessing the suitability and feasibility of sites for future productions and assist in budgeting the costs associated in preparation for the build of a show;
Oversee bidding, negotiating and contracting processes for construction, rental, purchase, assembly and/or refurbishment of production elements;
Manage the production budget from sign off through to reconciliation and maintain accurate budget information;
Oversee the construction, deliver and installation of all production elements to a high standard and within agreed briefs, budgets and timelines, and act as liaison between designers and scene shops;
Supervise rigging, load-in of the production elements and other equipment, technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals, load-out of production elements and all other equipment in the venue;
Production scheduling;
In collaboration with the Head of Production recruit production technical staff;
Ensure all stages of the production are archived;
Work with the Health & Safety Consultant/ Adviser to ensure that all production operations are carried out in compliance with relevant and applicable Health & Safety legislation and any other statutory regulations or legislation, throughout the project;
Maintain a safe working environment in the context of the production's design;
Oversee and ensure production staff safety on-site during site builds, technical rehearsals and get outs and ensure all risk assessments, method statements, paperwork etc. are provided or documented, as needed;
Coordinate and run regular production meetings;
Manage the drawing process and any freelance draughts-people and produce drawing as required;
Facilitate and support the planning and licensing processes;
Work on development, feasibility, schedules and budgets for future Secret Cinema projects and venues; and
Remain current with industry best practice and applicable technologies

Person Specification
Essential
At least 10 years proven and demonstrable professional experience of planning, managing and delivering large scale theatre and/or live creative events;
Excellent people, administrative, budgeting and organisational skills;
Knowledge and practical experience of all relevant health & safety regulations;
Strong knowledge of CDM regulations;
Thrive on creative problem-solving and collaboration with artists, producers and technical teams;
Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills with an ability to build positive and collaborative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders and suppliers;
Ability to lead a team and work effectively as part of a team;
Enthusiastic, passionate, proactive and with a positive attitude; and
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.

Desirable
IOSH accreditation;
First Aid trained;
Experienced in hiring and managing freelancers;
Experience of outdoor festivals or site-specific work;
Experience using Smartsheets and Procurement Express;
AutoCAD draughting skills.
