This role entails...

We're looking for a first-class Production Journalist and proven story-finder to join our team. You will be based in our Whiteley newsroom and will be involved in every aspect of television and online news production, from producing bulletins in the gallery to creating must watch digital content.

You will be a qualified and self-motivated journalist with a good track record of coming up with news stories and ideas, preferably with experience of working within a busy news environment. You will need to be able to cope with a heavy workload, meet frequent tight deadlines and work calmly under pressure.

As a qualified journalist, you'll have first class written and verbal communications skills and be able to develop good working relationships with colleagues and external contacts. You will also demonstrate good editorial judgement and use your social media skills for newsgathering and analysis.

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to demonstrate the following skills:

Role criteria:

Proven track record in generating, researching and developing original ideas, taking a creative and accurate approach to storytelling and production.
Experience of working effectively as part of a team.
Strong journalistic instinct and curiosity.
A good command of language, accurate spelling & grammar, and an eye for detail
Proven track record of working successfully to deadlines and focusing well under pressure.
An understanding of the importance of Diversity & Inclusion in determining output.
A strong knowledge of media law & compliance and the ability to exercise excellent editorial judgement and accuracy in their writing.
Experience of using Social Media as a promotional tool (Desirable).
A good knowledge of the ITV News region to which they are applying (Desirable)
