Production and Research Assistant

Hackney, London

New Role: Production & Research Assistant, Full Time based in office in Hackney

We have an exciting new role at Hamlett Films, an award winning production company of documentaries and dramas for the education sector. This is for someone keen to develop their career in a professional production environment.

This position is unique and is only suitable for an individual with experience in education and film production, and essentially, with strong technical skills across post production and design packages.

We have a small but exceptionally experienced industry professionals in our team, 3 in the office full time, and a wide circle of expert freelancers. We want to find a new Production & Research Assistant who would thrive in this style of professional production environment. This is to work on a full-time basis, based in our East London office. Salary depends on experience.

This is not an entry level role, we require at least 3 - 5 years experience as it's a very important one.

You'll be working across multiple projects at once, supporting the team from our office, so office experience is ideal. But you also need to be confident working efficiently and collaboratively remotely with all the team.

You'll be expected to work accurately, efficiently and to a high standard. No day is the same, so you'll need to be a quick thinker, intelligent, able to think through problems carefully and have a positive attitude.

We're big believers in developing our people so we're looking for someone who is hungry for career progression. We're looking for someone unique who wants to build their career in video production and give it their all. An immediate start is required, ideally by July 18th ideally or earlier.

Key Responsibilities You Would Be Able To:

Admin & Pre-production
Provide general admin support e.g. schedule and organise meetings, log team and company expenses, manage project information on google docs, take briefing notes at meetings, help us keep cupboards super organised and tidy, order supplies
Research talent, locations, stock footage, images and music, be able to sort costs and understand rights
Be able to book freelancers, accommodation and travel confidently
Prepare production documents e.g. supplier paperwork, call sheets, risk assessments and schedules
Draft quotes, proposals, storyboards, shot lists and Vox pop questions
Prepare and organise supplied video assets
Source props
Liaise with clients in a professional and clear manner e.g. manage enquiries and small scale projects
Contribute to client proposals and team brainstorms with your own creative ideas
Work with our script writer to plan and post engaging content to social media channels three times a week
Upload blog posts and our completed videos to our (Wordpress) website when required
Production
Manage production admin e.g. keep production overview database up to date on Google Docs, get contributor and location release forms signed, stored and uploaded, health declarations etc shoot paperwork
Do general running duties e.g. load and unload cars, collect kit from suppliers, organise crew lunches, pick up resources for shoots
Assist with shots, lighting & camera kit rigs/de-rigs liaising professionally and confidently with talent and crew
Manage data cards and rushes on location, doing data transfers if possible, and keeping data organised and stored safely
Ideally be familiar with Riverside
Have experience with animation and graphics
Post Production
Copy rushes from cards to our drives
Do transcriptions of recorded material using Premiere Pro
Keep our drive database on Google Docs up to date (logging drives in and out systematically)
Organise and rough cut footage ready for Producers and Editors
Edit Vox pops
Cut out logos and other artwork using Photoshop
Log production expenses
Assist with final file delivery and project closure e.g. delivery paperwork, uploading files

Essential (Don't apply without these please)
Degree educated or equivalent
Minimum of three to five years professional experience within the creative industry or administrative role
Previous relevant work experience in video or film production industry, ideally educational or documentary filmmaking
Experience of working on video shoots
Experience in an office environment
Experienced user of Mac OS
Essential to our work processes and work flow is strong knowledge of Google Docs, Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop & InDesign, Vimeo, Wordpress, Hootsuite, Mailchimp - do not apply without this.
Good knowledge of Office365 - Excel, Word
