At ITV News Central, production journalists are at the heart of our award-winning news operation, working across all of our output throughout the day - on-air and online.

We have a vacancy at our studios in Birmingham for an experienced, keen, self-starting journalist who is ready to take the next step in their career. Many PJs have gone on to be reporters, news editors, programme editors and presenters on our award-winning show.

The successful applicant will be hard-working, find impactful stories and excel at social media and online content. In our newsroom you will write scripts, edit, produce bulletins, curate our web production, as well as working on content for our flagship 6pm programme.

As a Production Journalist you will be a superb organiser with the ability to set up all the key elements of a story for television news. You will relish a heavy workload, meeting frequent tight deadlines and working calmly under pressure.

You will be a qualified journalist with broadcast experience, have first class written and verbal communications skills and be able to develop good working relationships with colleagues and external contacts.

You will also demonstrate good editorial judgement and use your social media skills for newsgathering and analysis. Experience using non-linear digital Newscutter editing software would also be an advantage.
